I really wanted to roll a hunter, but I hear they really have a bad rep. How can I set myself apart from the rest so people dont think im a huntard?

You did not say if you have any other characters as each class needs to learn all there is that class can do and we all have seen other classes that have no real idea how to play in a group , so as has been said read the top posts and learn how a hunter should be played.

A Huntard is someone that has no idea in a group of how to Trap mobs, things like having your pet with growl on in a group are a big NO NO , things like pulling more aggro than the Tanks able to create are a big NO NO , not protecting the healers are a big NO NO , as a Hunter we can out DPS most classes and control most mobs if played right , but if we get it wrong we wipe the group , if we get it right we can save the group from wiping even though another class makes a mistake , its the easiest class to either get it right or very very wrong , the main thing is if you intend to group a lot is learn your role in a group , depending on what other classes are in the group also depends on how you will be playing your role as we always have to be adaptable and probably more so than other classes .

I think the only way to prevent being a Huntard is to learn all the tricks we have to the best of your abilities , which in the end means practice and grouping to see how we should be played and of course reading up the stickies , and the other threads are all there to help.

No matter how well you play, you may still hear the old 'Huntard' joke from your guild or friends. I know myself and the other hunters in my guild get that in raids sometimes, but we know they are all just kidding. Not to mention the jokes get silenced when the DPS meters get posted at the end of the night ;) Just take it with a grain of salt, as many of them are jealous of all that we (as hunters) are capable of as a class. Hence, why the class is so popular in the first place. It's an easy class to play in general, but it takes time and devotion if you want to be good at it. Definatley read all the forums here as others have suggested. They have personally helped me alot. I wish you much luck with the class, and always have fun!
