Need advice on gear for 2s arenaFollow

First off: Yes, I've read Theo's PvP FAQ, and found it extremely helpful.

So here's the deal. I've been getting pretty bored with the game lately on all of my toons. My guild pretty much exhausted all the PvE content we could do, and a lot of people are taking breaks until the expansion hits. In a last ditch effort to still have some fun and do something different, my Disc Priest friend (armory) and I decided to give arenas a try again. I had done some back in S1/S2 to pick up the S2 swords, but that was mainly for PvE. My gear is pretty crappy. I've go the 2 S2 swords, the S1 gloves, the S2 shoulders, and the S3 Helm. After the last 2 weeks, I had enough points left over to pick up the S3 chest today, which still needs an enchant (stats or resilience?). Everything else is pretty much PvE gear, so I'm just under 200 resilience and just under 10k unbuffed. My offensive stats are pretty good, but my defense is a bit lacking.

My priest friend outgears me by quite a bit. He's currently at about 325 resilience or so. Now my understanding is that with this comp, I'm probably not going to be focused. So my question is, how much more resilience do I need for us to start being competitive? We've only done 20 matches for the past 2 weeks, going 10-10, so obviously we need more practice, but do I need to focus on picking up all the honor gear, or is my gear sufficient to get into the 1600s?

Please forgive my noobishness in this area, but it's new ground for me. My old arena team basically did 10 matches per week for points, and was stuck in the low 1300s for all of S1 and S2. So, I was surprised how well we were able to do just getting started and with me sitting at ~150 res (this was before picking up the S2 shoulders and the S3 chest). Please keep in mind that we'll probably be facing teams in the 1500s, if that affects your answers.

Thanks in advance,
Camel

Haha... you were on my very first server I have ever played on.

If you aren't in BT, get all the honor pieces and get around 300resil.

After that gear for offensive stats.

Thanks MYteddy. I wasn't lucky enough to make it to BT, so I'll work on getting the honor pieces then.

Also, see my sig. Theo graciously made a PVP forum for those that arena on Alla. Take questions like this there... because I would much rather lurk there and answer questions >_>

we really need some flashing, hyperactive banner type thing with the words:
DONT POST HERE UNTILL YOU READ THE COMPENDIUM AND THE STICKIES (and maybe the arena forum).

Seriously :)

Aside from links in people's sigs, there's no mention of Theo's arena journal in his compendium or in his PvP FAQ. Perhaps if one were added, there would be fewer questions like this posted in the Rogue forum.

It's in my sig. With how much I post (and considering I am the author of both threads you're talking about, and the majority of the posts therein), do you really need a link in the Compendium/PvP FAQ? Smiley: tongue

Fair enough. It's just that most people have such retarded sigs, I don't even look at them. Most of the rest just have links to their toons' armory pages.

Anyway, thanks for creating an arena forum Theo. I've definitely enjoyed what I've read so far.

Yeah, but c'mon, this is me we're talking about.

I always have good links.
