Anyone know if they're messing with the physical hit chance it WotLK? I've heard rumors that it will be 4/5/6/17% (for a mob 0/1/2/3 levels above you) like caster hits, but I haven't seen any blue posts to confirm this (the only reasoning is melee and caster hit rating are rolled into one stat). Anyone know if it's going to continue to be 5/5.5/6/9 or if it will change to 4/5/6/17?

It better not be raised. There is a very nice shortage of hit rating on the gear I've seen, along with the increase in hit rating per hit percent.

And rogues would go nuts. They already have to stack over 300 HR.

We probably won't know until a week before or once it's released. They're still playing with skills and what not; however, a piece of gear was released that had like... forty hit on it.

Well, in live it takes 15.77 hit rating to make 1% hit. In WotLK that number is like 32.79. All the ratings jumped up by 107.9% in how much you need to achieve 1% of whatever stat.

Math time.

If all hit chance requirements for raid bosses was raised to 17%, a rogue or fury warrior would need a whole 36% extra hit chance.

32.79 HR per 1%? Rogues would need 1181 hit rating! Oops, forgot precision. 1016

They'll have enough trouble getting the 787 they'd need just for the increased rating per 1%.

Yeah, but Rogues stack to offset the off-hand penalty. Isn't there a change in DW that affects off-hand less? They wouldn't need to stack as much if that's the case. I thought a talent/skill was being introduced to give you almost no penalty with the off hand.

In live right now special attacks do not have the off-hand penalty, while the white attacks do. For a rogue, white damage makes up about 50-55% of their damage done, so hit rating up to 9% is worth it, but past 9% is only half effective since it only affects half of your damage.

Your numbers are completely @#%^ed.

Rogue white damage is usually ~60% of our damage, but we also stack hit rating because of Combat Potency, which procs on off-hand attacks. As you may (or may not, considering) have guessed, more hit rating is more CP procs, which is more energy to use to deal damage.

Thus, stacking hit rating past 9% isn't half as effective, it's the best thing you can do, as long as you stack it responsibly.

Edit: and the only penalty to off-hand hits is 50% reduction in damage. There is literally no difference between the hit rate of off-hands and main hands.
