Hello, Warlock Community! I am still very new to the World of Warcraft, and I come to you with a few questions. My boyfriend and I are playing a duo - he is a Warlock, I am a Paladin. However, he is gone a lot of times, so we can't always play together. As such, even though I told myself I wouldn't like the game, I wouldn't want to play, I find just the opposite, and now I need an alt to play while he is away. That is why I am here!

My primary concern for whatever class I decide on playing is I want to be an asset to groups. I absolutely hate to solo. In fact, that is why I avoided WoW for so long, as I was always told how great it is for the solo player. I'm a grouper. I play MMOs to play with people! With that in mind, how useful are warlocks to groups? Not only in endgame, but in the actual process of getting there.

For a group player, what would you recommend as far as a build? It seems like int and spirit would be the obvious choices for stat increases, but perhaps there is something better? For now I am just looking for the basics:

1) Will a Warlock be wanted for groups, instances, and eventually end game events?
2) For a Warlock focusing on wanting to group over solo, what would be the most effective build?
3) What order should I look for stats on gear?

Thanks in advance for the information, I'm sure it will prove quite helpful!
PS: I'm a Blood Elf if that matters?

Hey there. Well to answer your question in short yes warlocks are good in groups. Warlocks are good for instances because they are one of the best dps classes. But they also bring a bunch of other things like soulstones, healthstones, summons, CC if you wanna use the succubus' charm, or even a stam buff from your imp, also if theres demons you can use a banish. As for stats the main two stats youll want are Stam and Int. As for build just working your way down the affliction tree will probably be the best bet. Probably something like this http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html
Hope that helps you out.

Let me give you a somewhat shorter reply here as well then;

Compared to Mages, Warlocks score a little bit worse due to the lack of reliable CC. You'll still be able to find groups with relative ease, but at 70 you will start seeing people ask specifically for Mages rather than Warlocks.

I'd say focussing on affliction works best. The destruction tree can be compared to the Mages' fire tree, but affliction still has fairly nice damage and makes it easier for you to level. On 70, you'll want to respec to destruction anyway, though.

Once again; not a pro warlock, so don't pin me on it. But as far as I know, Intellect > Stamina > Spirit, just like with the Mage. Stamina's a bit more important here though, specifically thanks to the spell 'life tap' that allows you to turn health into mana.

Just to clarify you'll go destro at 70 bit.To go destro pve you need good spell dmg,you need to be hit capped (202) and need to have decent crit,haste also comes into play.Raiding destro spec (0/21/40) is used areound t5 ,before that Affliction (42/0/19) dmg is better.

And one more thing ,spirit is useless to locks as it is now.That will change in expansion but for now no good from it.
