So this rogue was talking in Gchat today, and it got my attention. He said that Fist/Sword out does Sword/Sword in the long run due to 5% Crit on all SS's, all MH attacks and all Sword Procs. On paper this makes sense, and I plugged in a s4 fist/blade of savagery in the spreadsheet and it came out to being about 4 dps higher than s4 sword/blade of savagery with my gear. Im curious as to what other people think.

Well aware, just asking for clarification. On paper fist/sword seems to be better IMO.

The analysis I did a while back for myself came out damn close (s/s 0%, f/s -1%, f/f -1.5%, approx). Never ran the numbers for t6 (or s4) but it wouldn't surprise me to be honest. The main loss is if you go 5/5 for both weapon talents. Most people give up Vile (at least) to do that, which can bring down total output in longer encounters. Otherwise they go 3/3 weapon talents and give up some of the procs. /shrug

I think I saw a 3/3 vs. 5/5 comparison on EJ a while back. If I remember rightly, it came out in favor of 3/3 but slightly. But my memory needs a serious upgrade ;)

Sword/sword is better. I'd rather get another sword proc than get a crit, as sword spec procs can crit.

Honestly, my damage is better as fists with the weapons I have available to me at the moment (or so the numbers say with badge fists), but I seriously do miss Combat Potency procs off the sword procs (and such).

Sword/Sword felt more.... "smooth" to me (I guess that's the right word). The damage output just felt more even and manageable. Whereas, fists can be a bit bumpy with the additional, if small, crit-jib chance. Maybe it's just a fallible perception, but there ya have it.

Every analysis I recall says that s/s will slightly out perform s/f or f/f. But I can't say for certain that the ones I've seen used t6/s4 gear for analysis.

Sword spec procs can crit, which pretty much makes up for the tiny, tiny, tiny difference in DPS.

Plus it looks really stupid. I can't stand dual-wielding weapons that aren't symmetrical. It just unnerves me.

Think about it, the cornerstone of Rogue DPS is hitting things, hitting them fast, and hitting them a lot.

For this reason, we have an ability called slice and dice to fulfill the "Hitting them fast" criteria, and we stack hit to make sure we fulfill the "Hitting them a lot" criteria.

Sword spec provides you yet another mechanism to hit "a lot", which falls perfectly in line with this building block for DPS. More hits = more chances to proc abilities = more chances to crit = more chances to hurt.

Besides, maces are for big oafs ... rogues are sleek, elegant and deadly. No contest ;-)

rogue's are sleek, elegant and deadly?

What about Orc rogues ? My Orc looks like an elephant in stealth. I can't understand why anyone doesn't see or hear me coming with the size 20 boots he wears.

I thought that the maces suites him well, big and bulky. When unstealthing he looked like a big *** tank tennis player that whacked his oponents from side to side. Sometimes i got seasick watching him go to work :P

MY Orc is sleek, elegant and deadly (He has a shaved head and sometimes wears an elegant black dress ... to blend into the crowd unnoticed, you see) ... YOU just need a better dress sense ;-)

Anyway, from an RP perspective (which it appears we're talking about now ;->) ... I prefer maces on a warrior, and swords or daggers on a rogue. Problem is that from a game perspective, daggers don't work well for me, so swords it is ;-> (this changes in the xpac though, so I may be changing my mind soon ;->)

A bald male orc wearing a black dress is not my idea of inconspicuous.

RP perspectives are fairly subjective too, though. When I'm talking about a RP perspective I'd say rogues shouldn't even be able to use swords. We're rogues, not ninja's. And definitely not sneaky guys in tight leather suits wielding huge *** swords of which the glowing effects equal a 70's discoball.

Edit: Spellingz... Oh, and 666th post *evil laugh*

I can understand daggers and fist weapons, I guess swords are just big daggers, but when did "hitting a guy repeatedly with spiky clubs" become a Rogue thing?

Like I said, it depends on how you look at it. You might see it as "hitting a guy repeatedly with spikey clubs", one other might see a rogue more as a 'ninja' who is adept in hand to hand combat and enjoys fighting with maces to pummel is enemies. I know what you're onto, it's hard for me to see/accept that perspective, but it exists.
