Do DoT crits get doubly hit by resilience?

I would imagine that they will change the resillience effects on the spell so that it behaves in the same way as arcane missiles does.

Brutal honesty: if you were top 3 in BT and Hyjal on tank-and-spank fights, your other DPS sucked. Maybe it was gear, maybe it was they didn't know how to max their character and you did, maybe something else. But they sucked. By Sunwell, if anyone outdamage a shadow priest they need to be informed they have 2 weeks to get their sh*t together or they're out of the guild, or at least out a raid spot. (That said, we can rock on fights like Supremus and Illidan that are a bit more than tank-and-spank).

I love the change. Not entirely sure it's enough, but scaling for 96.4% of spell power with Flay, and having it crit, will be awesome. Really messed with my trying to figure out which items I'm going for at 80 though :p

well my average dps as a shadow priest is in the area of 1400-1600 25 man raid buffed of course. so ya in the higher end content im below some other folks.. but like i said we still do great damage for what we bring to the party. ie: mana and health. i guess i could provide screenshots of being first or third on a couple a bt fights.. but really i dont see why i should have to.

try the facemelter mod.. look into mods like quartz casting bar.. and you really can become an effiecent dps'er .. not a always on top type.. but hey i never had a problem getting into any raid as a shadow priest.. hell i never even had to sign up.

but i too am very excited about the new changes.. i just never had any issues where i felt mind flay was underpowered is all..

1400-1600 dps without Sunwell gear? I high, highly doubt that. Without Sunwell gear it's not even possible to get 1600dps on Brut, let alone any fight in T6. As I said, there are fights we can top - Illidan and Supremus are two good examples - but tank-and-spanks aren't one of them.

Also, keep in mind VT was cut in more than half, and that other classes got a solid 20-25% boost in damage. This change finally brings us a lot closer to where we should be.

My apologies if i sounded argumentative. My original point was only that i personally have always been happy with shadow priests dps. And im even more so happy with the versatility we bring. So yes technically i am personally amazed that they did anything to further buff us in pve content because as i have stated i feel we are very capable as is. as for the dps a pre sunwell shadow priest is capable of. I would have to ask you if you have ever tried a full set of zul aman haste gear out(along with some badge and other small haste things). but please i do not want to get caught up in a back and fourth over what dps is really possible. im sure other priests will be along to clarify what they personally have found. but i am kinda happy because if you say that it is not possible for a shadow priest to do that much damage..and you yourself are a skilled shadow priest.. well... i musta been doing something right and that justifies all the effort i have put into getting better. i have never gotten the opportunity to compare dps with other shadow priests before. im usually the only one.

However im super pumped that we are getting buffs aswell. Just like you yourself i cannot wait to see the buffs for myself.

This along with (from what i hear) some cool new way to manage threat will be very nice. all and all i think its going to be a great expac for the priest. However as i stated i will be spending most my time in pvp this time around and from the way things are looking i will focus on disc/holy

The issue that most people take with shadow is not the overall dps capacity, its the scaling of damage with gear. The dps of shadowpriests was initially high in BC (around 1000 or so when entering ssc) and scaled very poorly up to T6 content. Wheras other damage classes close to double their damage output.

With the changes to the mana regeneration mechanic associated with VT/Judgement/Surv Hunter comes the opportunity for blizzard to fix the broken scaling of the class. This was previously impossible as it would have totally overpowered VT at the high end.

Ah I see now. Thanks for the explanation as im currently clueless as to most of the stuff going on in wotlk.

I had no clue they changed vt for the greater good. or even that they changed it at all.
