I have a quick question for those who feel like answering.

Since this was AV weekend I decided to put in some work to finally get a replacement for my Staff of Beasts (and yes grinding 27k honor was work).

As I equipped my shiny new S2 mace I couldn't believe my eyes. 2800AP. Just last week I was jumping around in excitement seeing my AP jump over 2k.

I still have a couple pieces to replace so I am curious as to how high I can get it.

My question is what is your AP at and what is the highest you've seen?

your replies are greatly appreciated.

My attack power with only my buffs on runs a little over 3600 in cat form. Mostly arena gear with some misc stuff thrown in.

Raid buffed, I am well over 4k and when I have various temporary buffs during fights, I have seen well over 5k.

I can't remember which forums I was reading, but it went into the dps of cat form very very thoroughly. Basically, you need a balance of crit and AP... and due to how easily cats get AP (feral staff, Agility converting to AP), you can completely ignore additional AP because it is impossible to achieve enough crit to go past the balance point.

In other words, ignore your AP. It means virtually nothing. Worry about increasing your crit (generally through Agility at least until WotLK).

From Emmerald's lists :-

At about 2.5k AP & 30% crit

Stat Value
+1 Agility = 2.3323
+1 Strength = 2.0602
+1 Expertise = 1.5393
+1 Hit = 1.5195
+1 Crit = 1.4298
+1 AP = 1.0000
+1 Haste = 0.9599
+1 Ignore Armor = 0.2403

At about 4k AP & 45% crit

Stat Value
+1 Agility = 2.8117
+1 Strength = 2.2664
+1 Expertise = 2.0963
+1 Hit = 2.0700
+1 Crit = 1.6755
+1 Haste = 1.4433
+1 AP = 1.0000
+1 Ignore Armor = 0.3216

The values for +hit & +expertise assume you are not capped. If you are capped then they are obviously of no use to you.

That gives you a good idea of which stats you should focus on and in what priority. Agi is king, but is fairly closely followed by strength, then expertise & hit.

I'm pretty well geared for feral. In my cat suit I rock out 43.6% crit and about 3250AP unbuffed. That's with being hit capped and having the expertise rating from the H MgT trinket. With elixirs and full raid buffs, I can get just up to 50% crit when my idol is procced. I'm not sure what my AP is when buffed, but with raid buffs(kings, might, shouts etc.) I imagine it would be close to 4k.

I have S2 mace, nearly all the badge gear I can get(no ring and weapon). Once I get my ring and my 150 badge staff, I'm hoping to have close to 45% crit unbuffed.
