Agree Disc is not a DPS spec.
Disagree Disc is not a healer spec.
I've been fully Disc since the patch, for 25 man raids and have been doing quite well, thanks =)
It's my experience so far that Disc is actually easier and more mana efficient for healing 5 mans than full Holy. There is actually now room for a Disc PvE spec and a Disc PvP spec, as I have discovered by trying/failing PvP with my PvE disc spec :S
People's attitude towards Disc healers need to change, good job my raid leader trusts that I know how to play my role, and didn't just automatically assume that Disc = PvP, eh?

Please keep in mind that this thread is over a month old (I'd say 2 months). By the time this was posted Disc was in fact primarily a PvP spec and you couldn't raid with it. Things have changed since then.

Not your fault... Some lurker went and ressurected 6 threads =P. While I don't mind, it can complicate situations.
I main heal as disc all the time... What's the problem with it? Your AOE heals are less than they would be with Holy, but disc is totally viable. People need to stop being so effing close-minded. You can make a spec work if you are a good enough player. Stop being sheep and come up with your own way to play rather than continuing using the cookie-cutter builds just because they're easy.

Once again, this is an old thread. Most if not all of us know that disc is a healer spec now. Before the patch, it wasn't really.
You know... we really need more posting in the Priest forum.
