Theo i would really like you to add this to the Rogue Compendium to prevent any questions regarding what abilities to use or
how certain abilities are affected by game mechanics
First off this is written in order to provide the lesser experienced rogues a look into Combo Point Generation and Damage Dealing Abilities.
*Adjust all Combo points and Damage according to your talent spec*

(I am leaving out abilities that have a fixed damage or are used as finishers)

Sword/Mace/Fist=2.4
Cheap Shot
Cheap Shot is a stealth opener that stuns a target for 4 seconds. Cheap Shot deals no damage and awards two combo points. This ability is used primarily in solo pve and pvp to incapacitate your enemy.
Sinister Strike
Sinister Strike is the primary ability of a PVE orientated rogue. Sinister strike should only be used if you are combat specced and never with a dagger mainhand(see below). Sinister Strike awards one combo point and gives 80 plus bonus damage.

Hemorrhage
Hemorrhage is the primary Subtlety damage dealer. Hemo awards one combo point and deals 110% weapon Damage. This ability should never be used with a Dagger mainhand.

Back Stab
Back Stab can only be used with daggers and requires you to be behind the target. This ability is rarely used anymore because of high armor/resil. Back Stab awards one combo point and deals 150% weapon damage and 255 bonus damage

((Attack Power/14)*1.7+Weapon Damage)*1.5+255
Mutilate
Mutilate requires two daggers and like back stab has positional requirements. Mutilate is a 41 talent point, meaning that any rogue with this ability is Assassination spec. Mutilate can be used in both pve and pvp (refer to Theo's guide for specs). Mutilate awards two combo points and does 150% damage(to poisoned targets) and 101 bonus damage.

Off Hand Hit

Shiv
Shiv is an Off Hand attack that applies your OH poison and awards one combo point. Shiv is primarily a pvp ability used to keep your poisons(usually crippling) on your target.
Shiv Math
((Attack Power/14)*1.7+Weapon Damage)*.5(for OH reduction)
Garrote
Garrote is a bleed affect that also applies a silencing debuff to your target. Garrote awards one combo point and is used in pve as an opener and pvp as a silence/bleed(plate armor/shields)

Ambush
Ambush is a daggers only ability that requires you to be behind the target. Ambush isn't used anymore because resil makes it almost useless. Ambush awards one combo point and does 275% damage and 335 bonus damage.

Critical Damage
Critical Strikes deal two times your normal damage and are affected by Lethality(up to 2.3).
To calculate crits just multiply by two.
