So I'm working on grinding the honor for my merc swords since the swords I have are the usual quest greens. I've survived about 17k of honor mostly running good ol' AV. My question is how can I do a little better in EOTS since I need another 30 marks and it seems at least on my server that doing eots is akin to having a root canal without novacaine.

Needless to say like many other bg's on my server eots is basically horde owned. I know that as a fresh rogue in quest blues/greens that I'm not going to dominate by any stretch of the imagination, but I would like to pull a little honor in eots instead of just running, getting slaughtered by people in full brutal gear for a good 30 minutes until horde finally win and then crawling out with about 140 honor and 1 eots mark.

So besides gearing in the welfare blues that you get with honor, is there anything else I could do to not only make eots a little less painful for me, but also get a little more honor?

Time will ease the pain, but until then just guard nodes. Right now is a great time to start perfecting your CC abilities, and use your CD's properly. EOTS on the realm my rogue plays on is actually 50/50 with alliance. Normally we form a 5man premade and own. I would suggest you spending the money on the season 0 set that you get from rep if you have the rep/gold. They have changed cheat death and its pretty much useless with 0 resilience. Good Luck with your PvPing and if you need more advice/tips check out Theo's posts in the PvP forums.

This is wierd ... I'm in exactly the same situation ... almost down to the amount of honour we've gained so far.

Only diffs is that I'm horde, and in our battlegroup - Alliance owns .. well ... all of the BG's ;-) It's a rarity that horde win at all - and generally met with disbelief by guildies and friends alike when you say horde won XXX battleground.

I've done one EotS (which we won ... incidentally) ... and what I did there was defend the BE tower with a warrior and priest. The priest tried as much as possible to stay out of sight, and we made sure that we fought as close to the building as possible (to allow the priest to see us and heal us).

The warrior was a Tauren, and for some reason (maybe his imposing size with the huge S2 mace), any attackers focused exclusively on him (who said there isn't a threat table in PvP ;->), while I stunlocked them in place. Priest kept us alive, and we pwned. It was really cool.

So yeah, defend a node, do it with a good healer if possible, and a good DPSer. If your healer stays outta trouble, you'll be a very tough team to break.

Other than that ... if you want a change, float around with a group and cause mayhem with members from the opposition who are floating around as well.

Important thing that I've realised ... try to stay away from 1v1 combat, unless you're sure the other person is not S3/S4 geared (or even S2) (ie, similar gearing to you) ... I had an embarrassing moment the other night where I took on another rogue ... he stood there, taking everything I could throw at him, after about 15 - 20 secs of combat, he was about 30% health, then he ShS'd, whipped out his swords, and soundly beat me black and blue. It was bad ... and the difference was his gear ... I had no chance in retrospect, and he knew it ;-(

If you're geared the same, and you get the jump on him, and he's pretty much alone ... you'll win ... but that hardly ever happens nowadays, especially if you're new to the BG's.

Back when I was faced with this issue, all I really did was hang out at one of the nodes with a group and do everything I could to stunlock any threatening enemy. If your DPS is lacking (which it probably is at your gear level) then your best bet will be utility. Stun-locking and CC-ing will be the single, best way to make yourself useful in EotS or any BG for that matter.

EDIT: More often than not, Keeping the opponent's healer out of the fight will usually grant you an easy win, and if they decide to go after your healers, be sure to keep them occupied with your stuns and whatnot so your buddies can do their job better.

Good luck and keep at it! And of course, get the MH before the OH. You'll be kicking **** in no time.
