Hello again everyone. Again I am not home yet to do the research (deployed atm). So since this is the only place I can go, What profession do you think would be better for the new x-pac, Alc or BS?

The only reason I ask is Alc I can make all my own pots. BS all my own gear. I heard that they are suppose to hook up Blacksmiths. I just don't know how much. If anyone happens to have a link on this website for the new professions so I could look at them, it would be appreciated. I tried to find one but cant seem to find anything.

I am just looking for suggestions as I know a lot of warriors are Alc and a lot more are BS.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there a rule against linking to that other site? I just post it because it's the only site I know with the info the OP requested.

Maybe RPZip is right. That's if you want a profession that gives you things for your own use.

Currently BS is probably the most expensive tradeskill to level up. But they've been adding good gear.

Alchemy looks like it's only getting bigger versions of the already existing assortment of potions. I have a post in the tradeskill forum about it not being profitable (note: on my realm). I haven't been able to spot a profitable recipe other than transmutes but I still keep it because it's still valuable for the fact that by having the tradeskill I can make potions that are usually never found on the AH whenever I need them.

Alchemy is mostly valuable for raiders, so the value it will have will depend a lot on how they design the wotlk raid content. However warriors don't consume potions as much as the mana classes, I think alchemy is best suited for mana classes and seems to be strongly oriented to those.

Really? My warrior consumes them just as much as my mana users. Actually, even more than my mage.

You mean you chain pot healing potions during raids?

I meant my comment about healing/mana for the trinket advantage. Doesn't seem alche are getting any BoP advantage other than a BoP improved rejuvenation potion and the trinket.

I assume that he's referring to chugging haste potions during fights. It's similar to chugging destruction potions as a caster.

for leveling, I've enjoyed my selection for herb/alc thus far. I always have a couple extra buffs on me which helps speed things up. I may make the switch to BS at 70 but for now, having that extra agility or strength pot and extra armor pot isn't a bad thing (my other toons are miners)

Yeh well, as I said, the real benefits of being alche right now are:
- The potions that aren't available on the AH, you can make them when you need one.
- The BoP rejuvenation potion. (mana + HP)
- The +40% to healing/mana potions trinket.
- Transmutes = free gold. Not so much free gold, but free gold anyway.

This favors mana users most, and IMO is not that relevant to warriors. Guessing you have other alts, if you want an alchemist I would suggest you pick a mana class for alchemy instead.

As for using potions, most of the time I find that IN MY REALM I get a better deal from selling the herbs and buying the potions. I made the calculations for masteries and even with the masteries I still get a better deal from selling the herbs and buying the pots.

Even if you're not an alchemist you can get yourself supplied of potions. Odds are that if you're in a raiding guild your guild will have plenty of alchemists willing to craft you all the potions you need for free (with your mats), so Herbalism alone will suffice if what you want is to farm your own potions. This may change if Blizz decides to implement BoP mats, but so far each time they implemented BoP mats for any profession they ended up having to change it to non-binding.

Alc is still one of the best ways to make money. BS is somewhat limited imo. BS's Master Blacksmith weapons are pretty nice though.
