Anyone else get bored...Follow

#1 Aug 31 2008 at 7:27 AM Rating: Good
Not with WoW or anything, I mean I really like the game and all and I love playing, but my 67 Hunter has just started to bore me.

I play a Beastmaster spec. and I am killing stuff fine and I don't die all that often and I am pretty good in the BGs (when I play them).

I just have gotten pretty sick of my class in general, I mean it seems that no matter what I read it says I shouldn't use any shot but steady shot and I try to do other combos of shots, but it just seems to never do as much damage. I wanted to switch to marksmanship again, but I just don't know if it will change anything.

I havn't been able to get an instance group for quite a while and I find it just to be a complete waste of time considering the groups always get disbanded halfway through the instance anyway.

I don't know, does anyone have any advice to make my class interesting again?

If you want to make your class fun again do something you like to do. You could also just find a fun guild and then get to 70.

Try a different spec, that should get you over some of the boredom.

My hunter is still SV because of a lack of +hit gear. I'm stuck at 96 hit, so SV is the only thing I can do for a while. Plus I'm the only real SV hunter in my guild.

When I pull a mob alone, it's Aimed-Steady-Multi-Arcane, and the mob is usually dead before it gets to me. My pet's just there for the Focused Fire talent of +2% damage. It's a lot different than pet-tanking stuff.

My way to avoid boredom is to have my pet almost always on aggressive , the WTF factor of where and what the pets attacking now does help me a lot , ( but then again some think i am crazy anyway ) the plus points are you never know quite what the pet will want to attack so i pay full attention of what the pets up to and another is i get some nice drops ( blues ) from mobs i would not have bothered killing , i have to be in full control all the time anyway ( stay or follow or attack buttons ) so even though it sounds like i let my pets do their thing i am the one in control.

As i rarely group and even rarer do any instances or PvP it is great fun solo , and no i have never ever died because of my pets on aggressive , if you are on lightbringer look out for any hunter called sandra as it is probably me and i will show you just how i farm/quest

Hah, my pet's left on aggressive sometimes after PvP.

I fly out of Shatt to go mining, land on a vein, and my pet goes off all berserk. Twice now he's pulled a mob that dropped a BoE blue.

That's some pretty nice luck right there.

I know what you mean, i hit 68 and just didn't have the will to get to 70. I played my Pally alt up to 48 before i finally hit 70. I still don't feel like playing it much, I'm not into playing BG's over and over again for gear.

If you really want a better selection for shots it may be best if you did try Marksmanship again. A friend of mine was always a die-hard Marksman and than switched Beast Mastery for raiding. Needless to say, it didn't last long and he switched back. He just has more fun since he gets to play with all the skills far more thoroughly than us Beast Masters.

Personally, I love my main and I love Beast Mastery... my problem is that my server is in a slump, as are my friends, so there's nothing going on at the moment.

He should try SV. He'd still be using far more than Steady spam, but he'd also do more damage, and have raid viability.

I still don't understand how "It's more fun to mash a button that does 4 different shots than to mash a button that does 2" really works. So you put Multi and Arcane shots into your macro. Good for you. I'm sure you copied that macro from somewhere..

I'm not sure if he had a button that did all of those or if he made the rontation has he went depending on the circumstances, and in regards to the Survival bit... we already had a survival hunter who was pretty much the survival guy. He probably wouldn't have been able to compete for that spot.

Roll a different class.

I get bored of my toon sometimes and so I'll switch to a different class for different playstyles and group roles.

Here's a list of my current toons to give you an idea of the possibilities;

70 prot warrior
70 shadow priest
70 rogue
68 resto shaman
67 bm hunter
40 fire mage

Guess which role I can fill in a group if I want?

I think it depends on what you want to do. Beast master/Surv spec is hands down the best PVE spec out there. If you are bored and want to go PVP I'd go with Marksman. Maybe roll another character for a bit, get over the HunterBlock you are having.

You are wrong Katie. BM/MM is simply the best for DPS. The BM/SV is not a cookie cutter full out DPS build. It is workable though, depending on where you put the points.

Tomatoe, Tomat-oh.

From my experience, high end dungeons are all about crowd control with the normal PUG. If you can't trap worth a damn then you are a hazard to the group.

I lay out an ice trap (clever trap SURV) and pull with a misdirection. The add would come to me and freeze. If no other adds came then I put my pet on the main target and begin my shot rotation. If a third add came then I put my ravager on it, freeze the second and assist DPS with the main target. I still came out top DPS 9 out of 10 times.

My spec was 40/0/21.

High end dungeons don't need crowd control 90% of the time. I've done every single heroic with a group consisting of: feral (tank)/warrior (arms)/rogue (combat)/paladin (ret)/priest (holy). I never sapped once.

That you came out top DPS in a heroic as 40/0/21 doesn't say anything for the spec; it says something about your group.

I can go into a PuG and do 75%+ of the damage done (and I have), but that doesn't mean that combat rogues out-DPS everyone by a good 200-300%.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal. 41/20/0 is the highest (self) DPS spec for a hunter, end of story. You'd have to ask Aethien what SV spec is best for rDPS.

Trapping talents are a crutch.

It's very easy to chain trap a mob 3 times without any extra talents, and if your group needs you to trap any more than that, there's something very wrong.
