No this isn't one of those 'oh please rate me' threads, but today in guild chat someone linked a site that rated your gear for you with various suggestions.

Heres mine for example:

As has been said many times on this forum, be.imba is BAD. It's based on iLevel only, so it doesnt give a good estimate about what your gear is like and where you should be able to raid, don't use it.

I would agree, this site is very bad. Since you are a hunter I would use Maxdps.com. It tells you what items, trinkets, potions, enchants, and gems are best for increasing your DPS.

That site tells me that I could be improved because I'm missing 3 hit rating, but it doesn't ding people for specc'ing Marksman. It does tell me that I should be getting my upgrades from Sunwell (fairly true. I'm geared enough for Kalegcos), but there's no way I'd be able to keep up during Kil'Jaeden.

If I replace my Kara rep ring (Shade will stop hating me someday), and my hourglass of the unravellor it would knock me into the middle/end of Sunwell for upgrades. That's because the iLVL of my gear is close to Gronnstalker pieces, but the 4-piece bonus makes such a huge difference that you just can't leave BT/Hyjal behind without them.

Unless I'm doing something horribly wrong, which is quite ofen, that maxdps.com site is full of phail!

After selecting my area, server and name, it loads me up as a dwarf (I'm an orc), insult to injury!
It does say something about beta, but it only gives you stats based on BM spec, while I am SV.

I don't quite understand whats so bad about the site I originally posted, with the link on it that loads you up on warcrafter, you can make some changes and see the affects as well.

Actually, MaxDPS isn't that bad, but it does only work for BMs.

It isn't as good as cheeky's, but it does make a pretty decent tool to give you some numbers to play around with. Just put your numbers in by hand. You have to do some thinking on your own though, as it doesn't take certain things into consideration. For example the proc from the spellstrike set on my mage. It'll tell me something that does a couple of dps more than what I'm wearing, but neglects to take account of the increase in +dmg.

Be Imba on the other hand... Well, it tells you how much hit rating you're short (if you are).

Actually, after looking at MaxDPS for hunters, just use cheeky's.

Well of course it isn't as good as Cheeky's. Nothing is as good as Cheeky's. I should have also mentioned that Maxdps was only for BM hunters.

I will admit that be.imba is a fun tool for monitoring where it thinks you should be. I've also used it on occasion to check out someone of another class for a PuG. I can use the Armory to see if they have the right general stats, but then I can use be.imba to check where that gear came from. I can tell if a mage is on the right track with what stats they're stacking up on- but I can't tell if their gear is from Kara/heroics or if they've got T5 and T6-level gear.

But the biggest thing about be.imba is that it is purely based on iLVL of gear. It doesn't care WHAT I'm wearing- just whether it's gemmed and enchanted. So I can put on a full elemental shaman set, and as long as I have it fully enchanted, gemmed, and I'm at 142 hit rating, it'll tell me that I'm in top shape.
