Separation anxiety? confusedFollow

Why they put a pure pvp talent like separation anxiety deep in BM tree?Does it worth it to spent 5 points to have it? "when your pet is greater than 20 yards from you or it is out of LoS its damage increased by 10% and when you are within 20 yards your movement speed increased by 10%"..pure arena talent!
It is useless for pve!Is it a try to make BM viable in arena?if yes why they take us away the most important tool of BM?{TBW have a chanve to dispell}

I'm not in the mood to do any math right now, but I will say it isn't purely pvp. Leaning toward pvp, yes. I imagine this talent will change. But as a BM Hunter, it's not uncommon for your pet to be doing 400+ dps with raid buffs (that number might be low, too - I thought I remember Cheeky's spreadsheet saying that my ravager, with ideal buffs, could be doing over 700, and I'm not raiding Sunwell by any means), which would mean an additional 40 dps with this talent. I guess I'd have to compare it to other penultimate talents to see how it stacks up.

I don't get why you say it is a pure PvP ability. Granted it is extremely usefull for PvP, but that doesn't make it PvP exclusive. Just taking Kara as an example.

Attumen, you can stay at over 20 yards in the first half of this fight, but the second half it's completely useless since you have to stand right on his butt to avoid the charge.

Moroes, distance doesn't matter, so staying at over 20 yards should be easy.

Maiden, I don't think the bottom stair is 20 yards away, so I will count this fight as the ability being useless.

All the opera events, there is no reason you can't be at over 20 yards away.

Curator, if you have enough DPS you can send your pet on curator and easily stay 20 yards away while you take out the orbs. If not at the very least you will have the extra DPS for when he innervates.

Ilhoof, again no reason you can't be at over 20 yards

Shade, the room is big enough to where if Aran is in the exact center, you have 22.5 yards to the wall(45 yard diameter according to wowhead), so staying at over 20 yards shouldn't be much of an issue, of course you will be sucked in and running out and moving from the blizzards, but overall more usefull than not.

Netherspite is questionable. More often than not I was put into a blue beam rotation with another hunter, so we were somewhere within the 5-10 yard range, so I will count this fight as a no for the ability.

Nightbane you should be at max range to avoid the fear and that is more than 20 yards, so this ability is extremely usefull for this fight.

Prince, again you want to be at max range to avoid the shadow nova.

So in Kara alone that is 8.5 out of 10 fights where this ability is more usefull than not for such a big increase in DPS. To go a little farther, both the High King and Gruul can be fought at max range, so there is another raid that it is usefull in.

Granted we don't know what the raid fights are going to be like at 80, but as examples of raids we have now, this is an extremely usefull talent for both PvP and PvE. But if this talent is more usefull or less usefull than the talents you will be scrificing to get this one is another matter entirely.

I'm with Synn on this one. It's a great talent PvE as well as PvP.

When I'm doing dailies, I will frequently have Morris off doing something on his own while I take out my own targets. I can drop most targets before they get to me so I send Morris off to start aggro on other targets. As I start in on his, I send him off to the next target and drop the one he started. Of course, this is when I've had too much caffiene and am in speed mode. Normally, I am not in such a rush.

This talent is pure win for extra dps in most cases where you can control the distances in the fight. Arena being far harder to control distances; I'm more skeptical on its use in PvP. Nobody allows a hunter to remain at range in 3+ Arena, if they do, it's likely a loss for them. You always close distance with the Hunter if you are a melee class. So really, this is likely more commonly a speed boost for PvP, than it will be a dps boost. The speed will help you get away from someone if your pet is on the target you are trying to take out so it may give the Hunter more ability to gain range. This will be especially true if they let hits from behind 'stun'. So far, it only works for mobs, not players, but anything is possible.

I think it will end up being equally useful PvP or PvE.

The increase in DPS from LoS is what makes it a good PvP arena ability. How many healers(especially those damn druids) have you tried to chase down and arcane spam only to keep getting that annoying Target is out of your line of sight message. So while you are trying to get your shots off being out of LoS, your pet is constantly hitting the healer for 10% more damage than normal. It's a boost to BM Arena usefullness (although MM is still looking like the king of PvP).

True, LoS is a primary issue in Arena, so perhaps that will boost a bit.

In the end, what we might find is that pets are targeted and FF'd down first- always. Then the buffs are gone completely. So, what used to be a 'high end' arena team tactic becomes a de-facto one. The lower quality teams may just have a harder time pulling it off.

I don't know how it will actually play until I do it... ^_^

In nearly any PvE fight, I am never closer than 20 yards to my pet. It's a pretty constant 10% damage increase for him.

And then it makes farming easier, as I move faster when a fight's done and my next target is too close to mount for.

It's a great talent!

Edited for clarity.
