Question on healsFollow

#27 Sep 09 2008 at 1:17 PM Rating: Excellent
Hi Mozared, thank you for the reply to this, my point wasn't to put it out of bounds, merely to make it clear to newer healers that taking unnecessary risks should wait until they're a more experienced priest and know what they can get away with. The fact you've described it as situational makes it clear that you do in fact have some experience with this and other tricks and feel confident that you can pull it off.

Moving onto point about raiders, indeed there are lots of things I do in five mans which would be quite frankly frowned on in raids. However, if I don't know the capabilities of a group or members of the group I'm running an instance with then to take those unnecessary risks is not only potentially dangerous to yourself, but can also affect other members of your group, doing things differently requires good communication otherwise you can end up causing more problems than you started out with.

I don't say never do what you suggested, but in 95% of cases especially with melee mobs it really shouldn't be done.

I admit doing things differently makes me feel good, especially when I pull something off I know was risky and yes I do that occasionally too, my central point is that advising a new priest (who's yet to reach harder content - not raids just harder) to do something that does (as you yourself admitted) increase the chances of a *****-up should be taken for what it is; an exception to the rule rather than how to actually do so most of the time.

There are 4/9/24 other members in your group, who will appreciate you doing your job well however you choose to do it, I can have fun doing loads of things while healing without spoiling theirs by doing something when I know it's probably inappropriate.

I wrote this in my last post I'll repeat it here:

Quote:

If the tank doesn't need your full healing power on him while you're running around "playing" with this mob then he can most certainly be taking the damage from the mob in the first place, negating any need for you to "help out".

That came from your comment about being able to renew while pulling the mob away from the tank, yes healing can sometimes be deathly boring sometimes it's worth having some fun and doing things differently, so if you all know the instance and/or vastly outgear it then go ahead have some fun, but don't forget the tank is there to take the damage if your renew can keep him up he can probably deal with the mob you've taken a fancy to.

Maybe they shouldn't listen to me anyway, I once ran to my tank and hit psychic scream instead of fade... the adds our mobs pulled kind of finished that discussion for us Smiley: nod

I just realized why your rank is guru. You are definitely worth it. I have nothing more to add to that.
