I'm just wondering if anyone knows where there is a comprehensive listing on which abilities pets cannot be targetted for. I'd just like to know so on all those times when melee need to get away from everyone if they have something (like 2nd boss in H Ramps) if I need to worry about my pet.

Go onto Petopia. If you look under special pets they will have all the pets that are resistant to things. I only know of one. That is Gutripper, the bird in Nagrand, he is immune to frost traps I think.

I think he means attacks from mobs and bosses that your pet is immune to.

I don't know of any comprehensive list. Most of the time it's not even listed on a boss kill guide.

I'm pretty sure that pets aren't immune to that much. To increase survivability just put points in avoidance to cut AoE damage and call your pet back when appropriate.

Well, stuff like Touch of Murmur can't target your pet, the explosion hits him, but then it can't knock him into the air because pets are simply immune to being moved.

In the Kara Moroes fight, pets can't be garroted. In TK, pets are not targets for Wrath of the Astromancer, though they do take explosion damage, and they die very quickly to her arcane missiles.

Pets are also not valid targets for any boss mob I know of that randomly picks a target and focuses on them regardless of threat.

Edit: Pretty much, if the effect of the ability requires the target to specially react to that ability or wipe the group, a pet isn't a target. If it's just damage on something other than the tank, it probably can hit the pet.

Thanks Ehcks. I wanted more than a rule of thumb but I guess RoT is better than nothing.

If the boss has to have a target for the attack, the pet won't be targeted.
If it's untargeted, your pet will take damage that can be reduced by taking points into Avoidance.

There are a few exceptions to this rule, but they tend to favor the hunter. One example that comes to mind is Lurker's Spout. It's an untargeted attack, but pets aren't effected by it. This might be because they can't be knocked back.

The only annoying one that I've seen is Supremus targeting pets during phase 2. It essentially doubles our chance of being chased.

I watched the Crones tornado pick Morris up once... so he got moved then... It was quite amusing.

On the Shade of Aran fight, I seem to lose my pet alot.
Shade ignores aggro tables and attacks randomly, and he can target my pet for his Arcane missiles.
He gets hit by his big Arcane Explosion attack (where everyone gets slowed and has to walk to the edge of the room) if you don't get him out of the blast area in time. The slow effect doesn't seem to hit the pet, so if I do a Ctrl+2 anytime before the explosion, he only take 1 second to return to my side.
I'm told that a Snake Trap is useful for this fight, to create more targets, but I haven't been able to try it yet.
