When is it to much?Follow

I`m curious if there is a point with a ret pally that you could have to much crit chance, like what would be considered a good number to keep, I have just over 30% but is there a point where it stops or become so unproductive to stack more? I`m just curious.

no... and yes... it really depends on your other stats. the higher your AP the more 1% of crit is worth. the higher your Crit% is the more one point of AP will be worth. as long as you balance the two though you will never have "too much" crit.

There is a crit cap that you won't likely ever reach. It is very high for PvP players but it's MUCH MORE obvious in PvE. You can never hit 100% crits because of it. You look built for PvP, but I'll show the PvE one just since it's much easier to see the effect in.

Attack Table:

Miss
Dodge
Parry
Glancing
Block
Crit
White Hit

Since the only thing below crit is White Hits, that's the only thing that you can replace by adding Crit. You can remove other outcomes from the table by stacking certain stats, and they add to the White Hit chance (which can be replaced by Crit by stacking more).

So you can never crit higher than: 100 - (Miss + Dodge + Parry + Glancing + Block)

Now, you can remove Miss from the table by stacking Hit Rating and you can remove both Dodge and Parry by stacking Expertise. The new table would look like:

Glancing
Block
Crit
White Hit

Since it's PvE, the mob has a Block chance of 5%, and you'll Glance them 25% of the time. That makes 30% in events ABOVE Crit in the Attack Table that can't be reduced, so if you replaced ALL of White Hit with Crit, you'd max out at 70%. Obviously, without Expertise or Hit Rating it's much lower. For PvP, you don't really have to worry about Glancing Blows and the Attack Table works a little differently, so it's much more difficult to reach the Crit Cap (especially since you have to overcome Resilience in the first place).

End result.. yes -- there is a point where it stops. No, you won't reach it.
