First Raid Healing ExperienceFollow

I hit 70 on Saturday morning, then trotted off to work. Had plans with some guildies of running the 70 5 mans in order to start gearing up for heroics and possibly Kara. The plans fail through because a Kara group (some alts and some mains) was starting up.

I was offered a position and was one of 2 healers in the group. The group makeup was:

MT : Druid T5
OT : Druid T4
DPS:
Boomkin T5
Hunter T4
Mage T4
Rogue T4
Rogue T5
Warrior T5
Healers:
Druid T5
Shaman (pre T4) (Me)

I was basically put in charge of the Melee and Help with the tanks. I hadn't healed an instance since Mana Tombs because I switched to Ele in order to level fast (this is my second 70). So raid healing was all new to me. Had some hiccups in the beginning but overall we only wiped once on Maiden because of positioning (basically I was out of range a lot since we used a strat I never used when I was there on my mage).

I was given a few pointers, being overwhelmed with 10 health bars falling I seemed to forget to keep my totems down properly.

All in all it was a wonderful experience, especially since I left Kara with:

6 epics, 1 blue ring, and 20 badges that bought me a totem :)

Congrats on the new stuff (should have saved the 20 badges though, but that's imo) =P

As an afterthought I did realize that I should have saved the badges for something better, but I will probably be running Kara weekly with a group of alts so badges will rack up quickly.

I think I was just so excited from all my new healie toys I was just not thinking :)

Most definitely. It's always fun to run it, which I guess is why I don't mind going in and healing to gear up other members. (Plus the fact that I'm one trash mob away from being exalted lol).

Right now, I'm saving up for the badge chestpiece (only 30 badges to go!). It's only a very, VERY small difference between that and the T6 one (not including the set bonuses the T6 would give).

But definitely a congrats. That's definitely a lot of upgrades, and I bet it got your +heals up a whole lot.

I got a little over 400 +healing unbuffed more than I had going in there and about 1200 more mana plus some MP5. I was so lucky that both the T4 pieces dropped for Shaman too :) I went from not being geared for heroics to being geared for Kara no problem in 1 run. It was loads of fun! Can't wait to get back in there this Friday.

Now I have to work on the rep grind. Dailies suck as resto in my crappy DPS gear, but I am switching to Alch instead of Skinning and need the sso rep for my trinket recipe. That and I am less than 1500 from my first ever epic flyer :)

Wow, so basically that T5 druid main healed that instance, 400+heal is basically where a level 60 who just turned resto should sit.

Im really happy for you that your guild managed to run through basically carrying your toon, its really nice of them. BTW, gratz on all of your gear. -Re-reading that comment it sounds rude, but honestly I dont mean to be rude just honest.

Good luck in your healing adventures in the future!

He said he got 400 more +heal from the gear he got in the run...not 400 total.

Yeah, what Ailitardif said. Armory shows 1109 unbuffed heals right now, and (s)he still needs to socket and enchant their helmet, which should bring them above 1200 depending on gems.

To the OP, try running some Hellfire instances to get revered with HH so you can get the healing head glyph. (I'm pretty sure it's Revered that you need to be)

Yea, I got 400 more healing than I had. My armory is partially DPS gear too, currently I have 1164 unbuffed. I haven't played since Saturday so I need to get the gems and such. Rep is my current goal.

And to the comment about being carried, no I was not carried through. I healed my butt off the whole time. The druid did about 60% to my 40% of the healing and I healed the MT/Melee through the prince fight while she healed the raid. It was a good learning experience.

Yes it didn't hurt that some of the raiders were over geared, and yes it was nice of them :) I have a great guild.

Whoops, how did i miss read that? I should have known something was totally wrong when i saw that, thinking about it, even with all greens you should have more than that.

Sorry! :)

Well that could be possible since I had more spell dmg as lvl66 resto than a 70 lock had in group when we run BF. Also that same lock lost in dmg to lvl62 lock in same run. So I think almost anything is possible in world of nubcraft. I know that I'm quite a noob in many things but at least I took time to learn more all the time and not only from my own classes.

But for the OP... I sure hope that I'll be equally lucky with drops since I think I get that last 20% xp today. Got 5 pieces of merciless waiting in bank so I'll be sitting somewhere 1200 bonus heal in kara. Upgrades I want to see are wrist, belt, shield, and back for starters. So many merciless gear are equal or even better than what we can get from kara but it's good to have choices.

For resto shaman kara is quite great place gear wise.

Glad to hear. I am about to run Kara for the first time on my Resto Shammy Wednesday. Hopefully all will go well for me too. I really hope I'm lucky enough to get that many drops. That's just amazing to get that many in one run. Most I've seen someone get is 4, and the most I've personally gotten out of one raid is 2. Gratz for the chance and the luck.

Gratz on the T4 helm. It is the only resto shammy epic helm (outside of the BoP engineer's) that you will see pre T5/ZA. I had the darn elemental Big Bad Wolf one for the longest.

Edit: I believe there is also a helm that drops from voidwalker thats BoE now (so it can possibly be found on the AH), but I've never seen it.

I think you are forgetting the Living Dragonscale Helm.

Probably what every resto shaman going into Kara should be wearing. The mats aren't all bad. I highly recommend it.

Do you mean Doomwalker? He drops the Fathom-Helm of the Deeps which, as you say, is BoE so might make an AH appearance.

That would be the one, I've never seen it on our server's AH, but I have seen other Doomwalker/Doom Lord stuff sell for around 5k each time.
