3.0 - what´s your spec (Enh.)?Follow

It has been announced that the new talents will be released within "the next few weeks".

So, for me is the big question how to choose talents best for max. dps.(Enhancement)

Main problem seems to be to choose between Static Shock or Maelstrom Weapon.

Static Shock + Improved Shields seems nice, Mealstrom Weapon will really come to
life with lvl.75 an LvB.
If they also already change the affect of crit/hit-rating for melee+spells, MW might
be already interesting enough to sacrifice Static Shock (I wouldn´t sacrifice any other talents)
But MW without Elemantal Devastation makes no sense in my eyes.

So, what do you think in terms of best dps pre-wotlk ? What will you choose/leave behind at first
and why?

My first shot at a Pve dps spec will look like this:

Talent-tree

I left 5 pts, really dont know where to put those :s yet!

quite sure Maelstrom Weapon will find its place in most Enh-speccs tho... instant Lavaburst for that yummy 9% crit is the sh*t! (or heals in pvp, if you manage to crit...)

Edit: I just realized, with Elemental Focus, pretty much ALL spells in my Dps-rotation will be 40%cheaper... It nice

Edit nr2: oops my bad ^^; well, I guess I'd just skip Elemental Devestation, and grab Improved Shields and Static Shock... I still wanna keep Maelstrom Weapon, hope to see some dps boost from a couple of Chain Lightning, if I can get them to be Instant fast enough (probably need better crit than what I'm sitting at - 26%~ unbuffed)

just realized... ;-)

I was thinking about your specs at level 70 with the new talents, but without LvB
and the potential to use all the nice and shiny new things ;p

So you can get max. dps before the addon in your current raids etc.

And I was thinking strictly pve...

Clear for me, but I failed to make that clear when I wrote it at first.

Sorry for that.

Oops my bad ^^;

well, I will still take Maelstrom, for some Instant CL's, if my critchance is good enough to use it often enough, dont wanna disrupt swingtimers by casting spells :s

Definitely take Imp.Shields and Static Shock... will be fun to try it out, doubt it will be a significant dps improvement though, with only 6% proc-chance... ofc this is just imo and only guesses

What are you looking to do for 3.0? I'm assuming that you're looking at TBC PVE raiding? A lot of things still need to be clarified or implemented before I can really decide, but I'm gussing something along the lines of this.

For leveling coming WOTLK, I'll probably end up with something more like this.

For fooling around until WotLK comes out: 2/59/0

For leveling: 7/54/0

PvP at 80: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=hVIhoZhrgfoxzuxkguio

My best guesses.

I'm pondering this for enh

Kinda a PvE/PvP mix (tho I generally spec more towards farming/grinding specs)

80 Enh pvp/pve spec

I'm pretty fond if I'm going pure PvP, I'd go Elem

something like this

Hey Cestin, I was looking at your pvp build and since you took the dual wield talent, you might want to put 3 points into dual wield spec. The + 6% to hit will really really help. I'm not sure where I would take the points from, maybe from elemental warding, but I would not take dual wield and not put points into dual wield spec.

Not sure what to make of 21/50/0 specs at the moment. Clearly we're going to see a greater emphasis on spell damage, and a 100% damage bonus to spell crits is hence a lot of damage, but that leaves us scampering for points in the Enhancement tree. I can't see a build leaving out UR being taken to raids.

Taking all the "required" talents, best 21/50/0 build I can make is this

Simple answer

I think one of the bigger questions regarding enh/pvp specs are the 51 point wolves. How much dmg can they take? Whats the range or operation? Do they have a stun/silence proc (if so how often)? How much dps will they do?

The wolves "could" be a needed talent, or novel...we don't know yet.

What we "do" know currently is we finally have abilities that can "crit" regardless of spell crit, and we have a talent that previously was worthless, that supports melee dmg thru spell crits.

Now frankly for PvP our insta cast GW, and now the anti-CC while in GW, "should" finally give us a tool, to counter the tools that has kept us down for a LONG time.

Now, IMO PvE wise....nothing has really changed for us unfortunetly. Threat looks like its still going to be a problem for Enh, if not we're going to be even worst off actually (higher spike dmg via shocks/bolts), and still no threat wipe. Really gonna matter on how much they have changed threat mechanics for tank classes. Which last I heard they are trying to "bake in" more threat into parry/block/etc. Something I've been looking into for my war (which I intend to go 17/51/3), since blizz is still standing by the claim that all tank class/spec's can "effectively" tank.

As far as enh pve dps is concerned, much of it is completely dependant on how well these mechanics play out.

You really don't need much Hit Rating (or % to hit) for PvP at all. If the PvP weapons will be itemized the same, as in they will have some Hit Rating on them, you would probably put one point in it, two tops. Or you can use a gem slot or two for +HR or a +HR/+XX combo gem.

so, finally got a beta key ;-)

my point really was: is it worth going for Mealstrom Weapon + ED, despite the fact you do NOT have LvB at 70, or enough points to spend for MW+ED without leaving things as Static Shock behind.

After regemming and adjusting gear in two slots (head+trinket) I came up with following +/- in the beta right now:
(including totems + foodbuff + potion, because thats my basic raidsetup "selfbuffed")
(side note: I´m on agi-heavy gear (badges/ZA, no T/S) and regemmed mainly with +10 crit)

I gain:
+ 500 AP (+25%)
+ 20 % Haste
+ 6,3 % Spellhit
+ 9,7 % Spellcrit

I loose:
- 4,3 % Hit (Talents + gear change)
- 4,6 % Crit

So in my opinion it´s at 70 not worth going into MW+ED, because 9,7% spellcrit will not provide enough ED uptime to be better then a fully specced enhancement tree, despite the damage you gain through MW+LB.

So I will end up with 5/56/0 at 70, because I see higher profits from Static Shock+Improved Shield + fully specced WF totem.

Thats what I think so far, your welcome to disagree or prove me wrong ;-)

In addition to the increase in the stats above we will gain damage through:
- 20% reduced CD on SS
+ Static Schock
+ Ghost wolves (NYI in beta)

Put that all together, think how well we scale with AP, and I assume we will gain
roughly 25-30 % damage overall just with 3.0.
And as soon as we hit 75 and get LvB and through that a very high ED uptime... ;p
