Is this ret set half decent? Follow

Hi i'm normally a tank. I have accumulated both a decent holy set and for the most part what i would assume is a decent ret set.

granted, i dont have a good dps ring, nor do i have any dps trinkets, but regardless, my other gear pieces, in my eyes, seem pretty well itemized.

now, in that gear, what would an expected dps be?

i just did NORMAL BM, and i'm pretty sure i get how to do the whole spell rotation with ret pallies... but my dps was a dismal 430... barely above what the tank was doing. looking at my gear, is that to be expected? i've spent quite a bit of gold on gems and enchants for what ret gear i do have and to see its immediate output seem so low truly makes me disturbed. in all honesty, i put out more dps on boss fights when i'm tanking. Sure the raid buff of having an imp crusader up is nice, but thats' not something that a tank themselves can't talent in and secondly, i dont know if the raid buff overshadows the loss of dps that i'm NOT putting out as ret... opinions?

Your ap is fine, hit rating is capped, but your crit is dismal. You really need 30% crit unbuffed. Only item that's missing an enchant are your legs, so that's about a + 0.5% crit once you throw a cobrahide on there. A ring with str/agi or str/crit and 2 crit trinkets until you get in the 28% range from gear, then swap one trinket for ap would be my suggestion. Also pickup s3 or s4 gloves as soon as you can, the +5% dam to crusader strike is definitely needed.

Your spec is ok, but benediction and sanctified judgements kind of work against each other, usually only 1-2/5 in benediction for pve ret, and 5/5 imp might instead. Although i assume you're using kings for higher crit atm.

With that particular libram you want to make sure that you judge SoC before you crusader strike as often as is possible, making sure to judge after your auto-attack so you don't miss a proc chance.

Without an enhance shammy you're gonna top out around 550-600dps in that gear, imo. BM is rough instance as you have to conserve mana during the waves and can't really go all out all the time. Try something where you can drink as often as you like and try to end each pull with as little mana as you can, then see how your dps stacks up.
