Druid in WOWLKFollow

#1 Aug 25 2008 at 8:02 AM Rating: Sub-Default
So I want to start a druid, but im not sure if that is a good choice.

Some questions:

Are druids best healer in Arena?

Will feral druids be good in the expansion?

Are they getting anything good that is worht lvl to 70 for?

SHOULD I MAKE A DRUID OR SHAMAN FOR THE NEW WOWLK!!!!

1. Druids are currently the preferred Arena healers, due to their LoS exploting ability (exploiting as in "utilizing a feature of the game" not as in "cheating") and the fact that they can cast on the run. The preferred arena healers change with the seasons, however. Paladin was the preferred healer in season 2, for example. No one can tell what the preferred class will be come WotLK.

2. Will they be good in the expansion? How the hell would anyone know? The cap was JUST raised to 80 on Beta from what I hear, and almost weekly patches mix and match the effectiveness of all classes. Druids have done fine so far and should be expected to do so in the future as well. The only class that really is an unknown is a Dark Knight right now, because no one is positive how they'll add up to the other classes in the end game. Because, as said, the end-game level cap is JUST being released now on Beta. From what I have heard though, DK suffers some major drawbacks in PvP. Then again, I heard that a month ago and it could be completely different from now.

Again, no one knows.

3. Well, you get free flight form at 68, meaning you can get into the air two levels earlier than any other class. It also saves you 1000 gold because you don't need to buy flying training. At 70 you get Cyclone, a nifty short-term interrupt/take out of action spell. It's awesome in PvP. Other than that, feral druids are beasts once they get geared at 70. Tearing through daily mobs in under 10 seconds is quite fun. Go go 35%+ crit chance!

4. Make both. Let's assume WotLK comes out in November. Three months from now. Following Azuarc's Allakhazam leveling guide, it takes under 5 days IRL to get to level 70. Assuming you play 4 hours a day average (hardcore, but not impossible; it is still summer vacation for some people, and a lot of people play more on the weekends, making up for only 2 or so hours per night), it will take you a bit over 4 weeks to get a level 70. So around 9 weeks to get two level 70s. Just set your mind to it, or get to the point where you like one better than the other and then go from there.

Although fair warning, both classes (shaman and druid) have slow starts. A shaman picks up a tiny bit at 30 (Windfury Weapon), a HUGE amount after level 40 (Dual-wield, and improvements), gets a small boost at 50 (Shamanistic Rage to restore your mp every 2 minutes), and goes to warp speed at 62 (water shield means no more mana problems practically ever). A druid gets a small boost with cat form at 20, a decent boost with LotP (and the Improvements from it) from 40-42, and gets a great boost from Mangle at 50, and then really takes off with Outland gear from 58 on (your crit chance goes form like 10% to 20% when you upgrade your gear).

It was a cross-forum reference, Cunk.

Locke and I had a brief discussion about the king of solo classes and I took some screenshots of three kills on Isle of Quel'Danas:

Odd, I had to re-upload the image because it had been removed from my images list.

Haha, you're a beast Maz, I'll admit it. My druid's ability is a bit behind yours I think, but I do have quick fights too. Although those damn Naga Myrmidons take forever to finish off >_>

I still think Hunters are the kings of solo, but you have both, so I defer to your experience over what I've read ^_^

To kill them before pounce stun wears off requires two crits and an ooc proc for me, currently. But every fight against one thing I find myself waiting for my stealth cooldown....
