Rigtheous Defense Macro?Follow

#1 Aug 25 2008 at 6:06 AM Rating: Excellent
Hi, I had a macro I found on the forums here a long time ago to make Rigtheous Defense behave more like a regular taunt then it normally does. I had it on my pally about a year ago cause a I was gonna be a tank but went holy at 70 and got rid of it. Now I'm starting a new pally tankadin and this macro was a lifesaver before does anyone know it or something similar and could post it for me? Any other tank macros appreciated as well thanks alot.

Judge Righteousness and re cast Seal

This can be used with any seal you want by simply replacing the name of the seal on the last line.

/cast Judgment
/stopcasting
/cast Seal of Righteousness

Taunt

This macro can be used to turn your Righteous Defense taunt into a more warrior like taunt. Simply click on the MOB you wish to taunt and the macro will target their target for you and cast Righteous Defense.

/cast [target=target,help] Righteous Defense; [target=targettarget,help] Righteous Defense

Emergency Taunt

While not really a taunt, many Tankadins use Blessing of Protection as a backup taunt. Since it dumps the affected players aggro table the MOB will turn to attack the new person on top of their aggro table, which is hopefully you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is possible to hit yourself with BOP with this macro if the MOB switched targets while you are targeting them, If you do, the macro will cancel the bubble, however you have now wasted your BoP.

#showtooltip Blessing of Protection
/cast [target=target, help] Blessing of Protection; [target=targettarget, help] Blessing of Protection
/cancelaura Blessing of Protection

Consecration

This macro is used to replace your consecration button. By doing so you can prevent having a rank 1 and max rank consecration button on your toolbar. All you need to do is click the button to cast a max rank consecration, or hold down the control key while clicking to cast the rank 1 version. You can use a similar macro for any other spell you want by just replace the spell name in the macro.

#showtooltip Consecration
/cast [modifier:ctrl] Consecration(Rank 1); Consecration

Bubble to Break Fear

Sometimes you get feared and need to get out of it and back into combat quickly. This happens in fights such as Nightbane when you do not have enough priests for a full fear ward rotation. While the macro shown uses divine shield you can make a similar macro with Blessing of Protection.

#showtooltip Divine Shield
/cast Divine Shield
/cancelaura [modifier:alt] Divine Shield

This Neph is awesome, I remember another Neph, but that one had an avatard. With a kitten.

Thanks for the BoP Macro, I never knew that! Or How to cancel spells without clicking the buff away.

If I'm not mistaken, Blizz changed RD to do this automatically a while back, without needing the macro.

Apparently they did.. but I can't confirm it becuase -- since you needed RD macroed for SOOO long, I got so used to using it. When the change happened (RD still behaves the same way as it always did.. as in it casts on the FRIENDLY, apparently the spell just has the macro built in now) I never removed my macro. I've been using it the whole time and never bothered to try without it :D

But the macro that neph gave will work, either way. It will try to cast on your target if it's friendly, or the target OF your target if it's not. It has some redundant bits that aren't needed, but it'll work :D

That neph clearly wasn't as nice as I am.

And premium sucks.

Oddly, I went back to see where they had made the change on Righteous Defense and I can't find it in the patch notes anywhere back to 1.x but I do know for sure they fixed it so you don't need the Righteous Defense macro. I like the other ones though!! Thanks for the post Neph!!

I believe it was 2.4.0 that people started mentioning it.. and yes -- it was undocumented (if it even happened)

Just wanted to confirm, as Losie's last post still seems undecided ;D, that indeed you do NOT need a macro for Righteous Defense anymore. Actually I believe I was the first one to bring it up on this forum after the patch :) Go me, lol.

Well, I tested it. And in using my Righteous Defence to pull agro off my healer it asked me for a target (the hand lit up and waited). Now I'm glad that it was in SM and I easily recovered (as I was running my lvl 32 friend through), instead of inside something that could have led to a wipe. But I for one will use the macro from now on.

Maybe it was left out of the patch logs because it didn't happen in the end? Eh, guess that's why they made macros!!!

GL!

I never used an RD macro. Press RD, press F. It did the same thing with one extra button.

Then the change happened and I had to get used to not pressing F. It always made me target myself.

When I downloaded the patch there was an issue so I wound up losing all my macros. RD worked perfect without it, so I have not re-made the macro since. Never had an issue since the patch: no macro, no other buttons needing to be pushed. Just the regular spell from the spellbook right to my action bar =/
