I know that this is all for "just to have." But, as I've never been to ZG, I was wondering about how hard it is to get the tome to learn this.

Is it hard to have drop where multiple ZG runs will be needed (read it's 8.86 % per Alla), or can I easily get a group of level 70 guildies and get in there on one run?

Also, I did see that you need to be a fisherman to summon the boss for this. I only have a fishing level of 12, but if someone fishes, will that work?

Thanks a lot for the help. I know that this turtle isn't needed, but it's interesting to have. (Plus, perhaps we can do farming runs and sell them on the AH =P)

Need to have the appropriate fishing level, plus a couple quests done from within ZG so you can get a mudskunk lure. The drop isn't too bad. I don't think you can solo the NM though, not sure.

I have this. It isn't hard to get, providing you have a good fisherman friend. The mats for fishing are evidently not easy to get either. We had a tank, resto shammy and me. Dropped on the first kill.

I might have to try to level fishing then. Shouldn't be too bad, I'd presume. Just need patience.

I'd most likely bring at least a tank and healer with me, if anything. As for getting the original quest (from the tackle box) to get the lures from Nat Pagel, would that require me to go far into ZG? Or is it near the beginning where I can sneak by and get to it?

Took me somewhere between 15 and 20 runs to get it. Like said before, good tank and healer and you're good, but be ware because when you get tossed in the air he likes to change aggro.

yeah, I'm going to read up on the fight first before I actually start going. We had a guild meeting last night and were talking about doing old world raids again. We've been starting to do the world bosses, so perhaps I'd be able to add this to the schedule.

Old World raids are pretty fun. It is and it isn't hard to get. You can take the water route but there are fish there you have to avoid. Not too bad. I am 0/1 on mine. Never got the chance to go back and get another shot, even though I have several lures.

I tried for this on my mage 2 months or so ago. We only did one run (for raptor mount) and stopped here on the way. The boss didn't drop it sadly.

4 70's. Warrior tank, Pally healer, and two mages.

Don't remember if there are any prequests but the quest(Nat's measuring tape) that lets you get the lure starts when you check the tacklebox where you spawn the boss. From there you go to Nat Pagle for the lure. To get to the boss spawn solo when you go in immediately turn left, hug wall to avoid mobs and jump off the top of the waterfall when you get to it. From there you can swim to the boss spawn, and you will have some fish aggro but they are pretty easily soloed. Get the quest there if able and go get the lure. If you cant fish in there take a fishing friend for him to get the tacklebox/lure. You then need to fish up the mudskunks needed to use with the lure, and may have to clear some croc groups to fish em up depending on where the spawns are, you and a healer can aoe them if needed. Then take a tank, you, and a healer(couple more makes it much easier) and have the person fishing use the fish on the lure and the boss spawns. Took me 3rd kill to get drop. Good luck

I ran it with me, druid heals (and fishing) and war tank. Took 3 tries but it dropped. It's very easy to get if you know how to sneak down there and fish for it.

I went in last night on my shammy to check it out and foudn the tacklebox. Unfortunately I'm not going to be the fisher (don't have the level) when we do decide to do this. I did find some mudskunk lures in the AH. Do you HAVE to do the quest to "learn" how to fish him up, or can we just go in and kill him with the lures I got?

I was told that the book is going to be a more common drop in the expansion. Some instnace. Have not found any evidence about this...anyone else hear about it?

Hadn't heard that, myself. You should find out where the person who told you that heard it, it would be interesting to know. Though I have to be honest, I personally wish it had been removed from the game(the tome to learn it) when TBC came out just like they're removing the ability to get a bear mount in WotLK. But that's probably just because I'm a selfish ******* who used to view it as a badge of honor(I put in most of the work needed to get the ability to summon the fish boss myself back when I was 60), and I'm not very good at sharing.

Anywho, keep an eye out for it on the AH. The tome doesn't bind, so you'll occasionally see one up for a few thousand gold.

Yeah , unfortunately I'm not "rolling in the riches." lol But I appreciate all of the help.

Got the Pig Poly last night myself. I figured that mini quest chain would be harder than it was, but it took maybe 10 minutes total to get both quests done to get the poly (including running back and forth).

It's only about 20 hours of dailies or so if you mow through them like I do. Smiley: nod

Saw that book on trade for 3000g. Yeah right, as if I'd pay that for a cosmetic item... You have raid symbols for a reason. On the other hand, people seem to be paying 8000g for a ZA bear, so obviously stupid prices find stupid buyers Smiley: lol

Yeah I've just recently made my own personal guild bank so I can deposit money into it (so I'm not tempted to spend it). And doing dailies on both 70s, I can save up to about 250-300g. It's just a pain, especially when you have to do it twice for both toons. Get's boring.

Plus the fact that I have a million toons I'm trying to fund (one of which is who I raid with quite often throughout the week), so it gets pricey.

(And I find gathering boring. So I just suck it up and stick it out with dailies and quests). =P
