Ritual of Doom and Battlegrounds?Follow

#1 Aug 24 2008 at 2:05 PM Rating: Decent
You know that all the Battlegrounds are locked before the battle starts and no one can get out of the starting zone, and all the spells that cost health like Hellfire have their health cost refunded? Well I wonder what would happen if you use ritual of doom in those BGs... since it sacrifices a player. Can the player rez outside the zone and get into the main field before the battle even starts? That could help to quickly capture flags/bases if it worked.

Having a paladin with DI I already tried. You respawn in the trapped area and have to ress the standard corpse walk way. No spirit healer. Except in AV, where you DO get a spirit healer in the trapped area.

you can res outside the starting area if you die close enough to the exit, so WSG can be a hard one to do, but all the rest are easy. 'tis a nice cheeky way of getting ahead of everyone early on. you can also use hellfire for the same effect.

The problem is that I tried but as soon as I lose health it gets replenished instantly.

You can't kill yourself by damage before the round starts. It has to be an instant death, of which there are two.

Divine Intervention and Ritual of Doom.

I've never seen either of them used for this.

senthai, that's called healers :P

POST EDIT

they changed the start of the round so you're constantly healed by nothing? that's lame if true... lol

Yes... I'm using Hellfire and I constantly get my health replenished. And it's not by healers.

The problem with hellfire at the beginning of a BG is that the prep phase of a bg is free-cast time, no mana costs or reagent costs. Since hellfire uses life vice mana, you aren't actually being healed, its just not charging you the life cost due to the free-cast prep phase.

"Reagent-free" is false! I use Soulwell in this phase and it consumes a soul shard.

Paladin/Druid/Priest raid buffs also cost reagents. Probably all reagent spells DO cost reagent.

I suspect that if they change that the game might allow you to cast certain professions (like alchemy) "spells" without reagents...

It 99% does. That's happened to me once and only once. Rest were free.
