I have been a Mace Combat spec for a long time. I am wondering if Sword/Mace combat spec would work, geting the slow MH stun proc and adding the possibility of getting an extra swing from sword spec. This would be 5 pt spec for bothe mace and sword. Is this a bad idea or does it have merit?

Either take the 5pts in sword OR mace spec, and get two swords or maces accordingly. Those 5 points are much more valuable elsewhere (read: pretty much anywhere) than getting 5/5 in both.
That's not necessarily true. Depending on your MH weapon, you can do quite well as Mace/Sword.
If you're going to pursue the idea though, you'd better start leveling blacksmithing. The mace you're ultimately going to want to get is this one.

Correct me, please, but aren't there much better maces than this currently? I mean, it was about to go out of date when I had it in S2... And the S2 was better iirc.
Acording to shadowpanther mace list, only S3 and S4 are better MH maces than Dragonstrike.
Their list goes like this.

Syphon of Nathrezim from BT
Rod of the Sunking from the Eye

If you're using Mace/Sword, you had better put 5/5 in both sword spec and mace spec. Otherwise, you're gimping yourself for a bit more poison damage. The whole idea of Mace/Sword is to get the extra attacks and the increased crit damage.
