Is + healing in pvp generally a low stat to begin with?Follow

I've recently got the arena bug and for the past few weeks I've really been adamant at building a competent pvp set for disc priest/rogue in arenas (2's bracket)

here is my armory and hopefully i'm logged in my full pvp gear:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Frostwolf&n=Iheal

Now a couple of things I want to point out -

In this set, my plus healing is roughly 1411 and my regen ooc is something like 280, numbers which are disturbingly small compared to my stats in pve gear (2300 and 660 ooc respectively).

But when I look at my gems, my enchants, and my gear, I feel as if I have gone the right path. For any serious disc priest in 2's, the common belief is that your gem and enchant for resilience, then spell hit, then + heal. I've gone that way, but why is my plus heal so low?

granted the legs are missing the golden spellthread but i'm holding out until I get the season 4 legs. Have i gimped myself too much by hitting 492.5 resilience? GRanted, I am attempting to get the timed ring from Zul Aman (one with 37 resilience) so that I can regem 3 of my yellow sockets with + 10 spell hit, but that does not change the glaring low number heals?
Is it just because I'm using season 1 gear? Or have i gemmed/enchanted pieces wrong? Lastly, are these states competitive enough for me to get out of the 1500-1600 brackets and maybe even hit 1700 with a decent rogue?

anyway thanks for your help

Yes, your +healing in PVP will seem low compared to your PVE +healing. So much of the item budget is spent on stam and resilience that your spell power suffers. Keep in mind, however, that the high resilience of the people you're healing means that smaller heals can keep them alive longer; also, most PVP DPS is in a similar situation, having lower damage than they would in their PVE gear.

492 resilience is worth the tradeoff. Later season gear (Brutal/Guardian) adds no resilience, but adds a lot of +healing and stats, so as you replace pieces, you'll see a marked increase in your healing power.

Note that many of your most commonly used spells in arena as a discipline priest don't benefit from spell power anyway: dispel, mana burn and fear. In fact, I have +spell hit rather than +healing on my PVP gloves and a spell hit gem in one of my yellow slots to make sure I'm landing those casts.

Good choice on the Alembic of Infernal Power, by the way. I use it myself.

Edited to add: And yes, that gear would enable an excellent priest paired with an excellent rogue to break 1700 in 2's. Your milage may differ. My advice is to find a mage and start learning 3's. More points and more synergy.
