I'm 70! Now what?Follow

#1 Aug 23 2008 at 3:54 AM Rating: Decent
I just finished leveling my first toon on WoW to 70. (Been playing for about two months)
I am a specc'd holy priest and I would like to heal for heroics and big raids.
Unfortunately I have hardly grouped at all and am horribly confused about what gear, talent spec, gems and enchants I need to do that.
Where do I start?

I know there are tons of guides out there, but could someone please point me in the right direction?

Well, start off by upgrading your gear in 4/5 normal instances. Aim for +healing first, then spirit or mp5, then intelect. Once you reach about +1000 healing try some heroics, while continueing to upgrade your gear. If you don't mind respeccing too much and don't have a personal preferred spec layed out, stick with a cookie cutter healing build.

Alternatively, to achieve gear, it's also possible to enter the Battlegrounds and collect the entire Season 2 set, the main-hand gavel and the off-hand healing book. Be sure to gem them with either +healing or +spirit/mp5 so you're left around at least +1200 healing and +140mp5.

Follow these rules and you should do fine 'till at least the end of Karazhan, and by then, the new expansion will be out. Good luck!

Oh, and if you choose to go for instancing, be sure to pick up a semi-casual raiding guild along the way.

Also, If you are a Tailor create your Primal Mooncloth set.

Then grind for mats to get your Whitemend set made.

That will give you a lot of plus healing, mana regen and give you the stats to start healing easy heroics and early kara.

Along with following the advice above, think about where improving your rep will help your gear.

For example, grind to exhalted with the Shattered Sun Offensive. It's one of the easier rep grinds you can do solo, and provides a good deal of gold. Once exalted, you could get the [wowitem=34677]Shattered Sun Pendant of Restoration[/wowitem] as a healing neck piece. If you are Alchemy, you'll want the [wowitem=35750]Redeemer's Alchemist Stone[/wowitem] as well.

If you aren't in a guild, find a friendly one that is doing Outland instances and working its way toward kara.

Use the Armory to examine each of your item slots. Ask yourself where you could make an improvement on your own (the primal mooncloth set is a good example). You will find that if you take the initiative to gear yourself up where you can, it will be much easier to get into groups and perform well in them.

For each level 70 purple you get, visit http://www.wowwiki.com/Enchantments_by_slot and see what +healing improvement can be made with and enchant, glyph, spellthread, etc.

A certain amount of gear can be had with cash. If you haven't done much with dailies, gathering, or disenchanting, it's a good time to think about it. If you are confident in your money making ability, you can make some reasonable purchases. Don't spend a too much, since the expansion and new gear from leveling beyond 70 is just around the corner.
