Professions (still can't decide) 4 Rogz :SFollow

Hi,

Here's the deal... I've red about 3 threads about professions but I still can't figure it out.
I'm a noob rogue rolling on a new server, I would like to do alot of pve before considering pvp.

I've seen that you recommend 2 gathering professions as a starter to make a buck or two.. million.
but I'd rather have one crafting skill... so I won't feel THAT grindy when lvl'ing.

I see that LW/Skinning is good because of drums? which are good for raiding???(don't even know what those drums are :S)
but how often will I be raiding as an rogue?

Enginering/mining for pvp some kind of gogles right?

my question is what about alchemy/herbalism is that of any use for a rogue through leveling and later on in groups?
and is it any good at all for pvp with all the elixirs?

I have seen atleast 3 threads about professions but If there is someone that could explain a littlebit more about them
or point to some kind of guide I would really appreciate it.

I believe the best right now is going to be Eng/Jewel for the goggles and epic trinkets/gems JC gets you at lvl 70. Just keep in mind how expensive starting a new profession can be before you pick.

eng and jewel seem kind of money hungry especially when starting on new serv
how about.. :P
if you had to choose between LW and AL ?

Reasoning:

2 Gathering Professions while leveling basically just for the gold. Hitting 70 is expensive. My last 70 cost 2k the day he dinged between mount, trainer, enchants/gems, pvp blue gear, etc., and he was very prepared to ding (mostly new gear in the bank ready to go). You could very easily spend 8k or more with an epic mount, Scryer/Aldor rep items, leveling a crafting profession, etc...

The thing with power-leveling crafting professions at 70 is, well, the items you can make while leveling are sometimes neat, but not that big a deal. You can easily level just as quickly without them. I leveled engineering as my rogue progressed and some of the toys and bombs, etc were cool and slightly helpful. But it would have been far easier at 70 to have had a larger gold pool to draw from. The crafting professions main benefits are felt at 70.

Which crafting professions to go with is ultimately up to you. But the reasoning why Engineering/Jewelcrafting (for PvP) or Engineering/Leatherworking (for PvE) are for specific items (goggles/panther trinket for PvP, goggles/drums for raiding) is that these are considered to be the items with the most benefit for players who are even semi-serious. For casual players, it doesn't really matter.

If you don't know what you will be doing at 70, well that's even more reason to take two gathering professions while leveling. At 70 you can decide and by that point, you'll have a small hill of gold to work with.

If the above isn't clear enough... I don't even know what to say.
