Hey, I've been messing around on this hunter alt for a while (lvl 19), and I'm wondering, does it get more fun? I mean, I'm sure it does, but as of right now its: sic pet/hunter's mark, arcane shot/serpent sting, auto attack till dead or arcane shot till oom.

I mean, I left my paladin b/c I was tired of auto attacking my way into next week, I'm not paying $15 a month to be bored. Should I keep it up, or reroll something more twitchy, like a rogue?

Every class does get more complex as you level up, but auto-attacking will pretty much always be part of the mix. What classes are going to be fun and interesting for you depends on your playstyle.

Class choices aside, you might have more fun if you level with some friends. Filling a group role can be much more complex than solo play, and you'll have people to talk to while firing off those auto shots.

Another option would be to play more pvp than pve. Mobs are pretty much stationary, so you can get away with standing in one spot and letting the auto-attacks do their thing. Players are an entirely different story and tend to require a lot more strategy and effort to take down.

Hope this helps.

It's pretty much the same thing until you hit level 70. You can do what Zenithal suggests and break up the boredom with some PvP.

If you easily get bored doing 1 thing, you might also want to try a Hybrid class like Druid or Shaman. With either of those, you can be a caster, a melee or a healer.

Yeah, pretty much all classes are mostly auto-attack types.

The trick to making things exciting on any of them is taking on bigger challenges. Hunters are the best at this. Instead of taking a single mob at a time try taking on 5-10. Be creative with traps and abilities to take on more challenging encounters or groups of mobs or even elites and bosses.

It's not the class that's boring it's how you play it.

While yes, you may think "at level 19 you got auto-shot and a pet, it doesn't really change" it actually does. Between traps (the most dynamic form of CC, which you get at 20), 21-point talents (scatter shot or intimidation add a lot), and farther on down the road you get some tools to make life more interesting.

Honestly, anything is going to be "auto-attacking my way into next week" to some extent if you're just grinding. On a rogue, 55% of your damage in raids is white damage. On a paladin, you'll just auto-attack with a seal+judge every 8 seconds. On a warrior, you auto-attack and wait for rage. Hell, try raiding on a frost mage. Can we say "Frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt frostbolt...." While it's not auto attack, spamming 2 on your keyboard isn't really twitchy.

However, you get fun fights where you overaggro, or tricky raid bosses, or you can do PvP to make the game more fun. I know I've used (within the same fight) multiple traps, mend pet, all my shots (including conc shot and scatter shot), 3 different stings, scare beast, feign death, and several melee abilities as well just because I kept aggroing mobs 5+ levels above me. Was a fun fight.

Oh yeah, try kiting as well. Go at level 20 and take on a level 28 elite, that's always a blast.

Get into groups. Learn to trap well. Learn how to best utilize your pet in instances.

It's not as easy as you may think. The best hunters are those that play well with others.

If your definition of "twitchy" is spamming sinister strike till carpal tunnel sets in then rogue is awesome.

But like what was said above all classes are pretty much like this it's how you use the specials that will make a class interesting. However hunters and warriors seem to have the most buttons on they're bars, but if you really want a challenge roll a tanking class and start tanking instances.

For levelling, tanking is the hardest thing, but try healing raids. I don't know anyone that would say healing is easy once you get into 25-man raids.

Meh, that's easy. Just get assigned to the tank. Refresh LB and Rejuv, gg. Laugh at the Paladin(!) raid healer. On a completely different topic, I think our healer officer needs a bit of education as to which classes are best at which kind of healing.

How to have fun leveling:

Paladin: Specc prot at 30ish and start gathering every mob in the zone, watch them all fall while healing you.
Hunter: Specc BM and do pretty much the same with a bit of trapping. Break up leveling with PvP and pet Hunting.
Rogue: Have someone else level it. All you do with it is PvP.
