Mages in lvl 39 PVPFollow

They're just better then Rogues, right?

There is no counter for Escape Artist at level 39. It breaks stun too. How can you fight that?

I've been using two swords, Cheap Shot + Hemo + Hemo + Kidney Shot, stun lock for 9 seconds. On mages though, I use Cheap Shot, hemo once, then kidney shot. It's odd that it doesn't break stuns because I swear they use Escape Artist before I can get Kidney Shot off every single time. That, and they can spam it nonstop. I really don't see how you can beat that.

If a Mage looks at you you're pretty much dead, one time I had 1.6k hp, and died from DoT's alone.

I don't do bad in BG's, 80%+ of the time i'm in the top 5.

Should I be using dagger spec at 39?

That's the thing..Can't have Imp Sprint, Hemo, and prep. Its either Imp Sprint or Hemo and Prep.

Well it's a 10 minute recast, and if they put one DoT on you (Which they always put 3-5 on me :\), you'll break movement only to be put back in it again.

Again, just the problems i've found against a mage. I can't find a counter for that escape artist bs

Really? Interesting. maybe I just get hit in the line of fire. They DO got tons of AoE's though, so if they know you vanish they just run around spamming an insta-cast AoE.




You get put in a movement impairing effect. You use Vanish to break it. They AoE you, you have a DoT on, or they Escape Artist, then instantly put you back in the same movement impairing effect.

K, teleport. I'm not too familiar with the game. yes, it's **** off annoying. I've had a mage take me from 2.5k hp to death with 29hp before. I just don't know what to do against them.

That's the problem, though. And even if I do catch up to them, they just use it again, and i'm back to square one.

I hope this gets better with shadowstep.

One thing you want to do when you're opening on a mage is be careful of his positioning. Watch where he's facing, as Blink moves him directly forward as long as there's ground to walk on. If he's on the edge of the cliff in WSG, or about to go onto a ramp, he'll blink about 2 feet away and come out of blink, allowing you to catch up very easily.

With Prep, you should be able to beat a mage easily. A fight should look like this (with the mage's reactions in the parentheses):

1) CS (Blink)
2) run to them (Frost Nova)
3) Vanish (AoE if they're smart)
4) don't be an idiot and avoid their AoE
5) win.

It's not a hard fight if you know how far Arcane Explosion reaches, as most mages that low are way too terrible to be able to use Blizzard at all.

Also keep in mind when you get good you can gouge right as they Blink and they'll go through the Blink with a gouge on them, allowing you to catch up very easily.

Good level 70 mages are slightly difficult. Other mages are not.

I love playing my rogue, but I love playing my mage as well. I destroy rogues 1v1 all the time. Most rogues are scrubs that don't take the time to read forums and learn how to play the class correctly. I feel like I am better than most rogues when I play for the simple fact that I read Theo's threads and keep up with other rogues that post in his threads. Since I know the mechanics of how to play a rogue well I personally destroy rogues when I pvp. My mage isn't that geared really a few pieces of s3/s2/and a few of s1. I have two mages, but the one that I am currently playing is Magepain on Deathwing(the Magepain on Mannoroth is my retired mage that I took to Rival title in S2, both are US servers btw). Anyways, a mage at level 70 has alot of outs to take care of rogues. I personally eat the cheap shot(if used)with ice barrier up and then blink the ks. After that it is just a kite fest which is easy to do because most rogues blow their CoS too early. Like posted before I pretty much always use instant cast abilities so deadly throw isn't doing much for a rogue against me. On my rogue its 50/50 when it comes to fighting mages. They are tough to kill if played right. On my rogue I have been doing alot of Pveing. I know I have never posted a link, but since I suck at posting links if your interested silkk on deathwing is my rogue. I have gotten some goodies recently that I have posted in the Accomplishment thread due to raiding alot. Until next time have fun people.

I normally keep up Ice Barrier. If they open with CS I eat that until they hit KS then blink out of that and then just kite them. If they Garrote me, normally I get EA'd afterward. I just summon water elemental ASAP and the IB to get the dots off me. I then click out of my IB just as soon as they target my pet(which most of the time they do). Either way I don't keep IB up long. I just use it for a quick defense. I will then blink to get distance from them. Normally here they will either ShS or DT to slow me down. Most of the time it is a DT because they blew their ShS to open on me.

I will then Frost Nova to get distance and cast a frostbolt(only if the DT so they have wiped their CB's off of me) to slow them down. After that its normally a kite fest. I just make sure I keep up IB as soon as its on cd and use my FN from my pet as well as mine. I only use a cast time spell if I know they can't interrupt me with a DT. I blink away everytime I get the chance also. Fighting a rogue is all about keeping them kited as a mage. We all know if you get a 5 point EA on me I pretty much have 0 armor.

P.s. If theo insults my armory page I will just take it as advice and keep pushing throughout the day.

Mages are cake, it's the 16k HP warlocks with unlimited fears that still beat the sh*t out of me. Not using CoS correctly ftl.

Are those mages Humans?
