wow I hate to sound extremely rude, but at lvl 30 gear and weapons don't play that huge of a part. Gear, just get anything that's cloth and appears to be an upgrade from what you're currently wearing; same idea on weapons.

For spell rotation, never been a big worrier about spell rotation, especially at such a low lvl. If I remember right I'd usually just send in my void walker, hit the mob with a few dots and then just shadowbolt them down, stopping to drain soul/life if i needed another soulstone or a little extra HP

I too have a lev 30 warlock (considering twinking but I really wanted the mount!).

Regarding PvE:

I don't worry as much about my gear as I am for my Warrior and Shaman, it seems that Warlocks can control our circumstances mostly at distance so armor isn't an issue. Additionally, I haven't seen alot of special gear in AH that would make a difference as far as spellcasting when you are dotting mob while your minion lays on additional damage. I generally don't want to draw damage and my dots are set i think? Wouldn't any great gear push the aggro issue? The one thing that I really depend upon to save mana is that my wand is the best for whatever level I am. The DPS is really good yet it never pulls aggro.

PvP:

PvP would be different, I haven't played enough to know for sure, but I'd imagine some of the pieces that increase your damage in spells would be great. Playing against Warlocks with other classes I can honestly say that I've never been hit with a wand but usually get dotted up and hit by their minion... Those often seem enough to deal with. :)

FYI-

My playstyle is letting my VW tank while dotting up and then hitting wand, or stealing health/mana as my situation dictates. Of course, I'm farming SS when needed.

Stamina/Intellect. Stack these until Outland, then go spell damage. CoA, Immo, Corrupt if you're going Demo.

Instant DoT FTW. If Big Blue is tanking, you should not get hit, so anything works. Like they said, Cloth that is better than the current piece. Near 40, run SM for the BLUE stuff.

My lock is about 33 at the moment. I've got some friends in my guilds willing to run me pretty much constantly, so thats how I get my gear.
If you have the spare gold it may be useful to buy a few SM runs if you cant find a friend to do it for free, they have some nice lock stuff there.

But like trollover mentioned, gear doesnt play a huge part, unless your running around in lvl 5 greys.
Focus on Stam and Int if you can, and + spell damage is useful.

My rotation is generally :
Send in voidwalker
Cast Immolation
Cast Corruption
Cast Curse of Agony
Cast Siphon Life (Affliction spec)
Cast Shadowbolt/Drain Life

by then its usually dead :)
