Hello Fellow Locks,

I just started playing a Warlock and, I've done tons of research. Normally I play a Hunter (Lv 61 atm) but, I'm curious about the Warlock. Warlocks are my Bane in BG's as a Hunter. To the point. I'm wondering what y'all think of this Warlock Build I have developed. It is based on the DM/Ruin Build. Granted im only level 10 and, just put my 1st point into IC. I believe this build will fit my play style but, I'm looking for input on improvements or suggestions. Thanks for your time, any suggestions from Similar Lock's would be appreciated.

I am no expert. At 70, you normally want to get the 41 point talent in one of the trees in any class. Also leveling as Affliction is normally the easiest. There are many pointers on how to spec at 70, all depends on what your goal is: PvP, Raiding or Pve/solo Questing. My first 70 was a hunter and Locks are much more fun at all levels.

Hitting 41 in one tree is kinda a give me cause of that bonus u get at the bottom which is the extra dot or the felguard So you should at least get a 41 in one of the trees and i agree warlocks are so fun at all lvls dot + dot + fear + dot + dot = death for the most part

You don't always build just for the 41-point talent at the end of any tree. There are plenty of 40-point variations out there for many classes, warlocks as well. One of the most powerful DPS raiding builds is 0/21/40 (or similar). Also, for PvP there's the undeniable awesomeness of Sl/Sl (MANY variations on that one).

For the build the OP put together: It's lacking the survivability of heavy Demo and the pure DPS of Destro. Not to mention that you'd be seriously gimping yourself to use it as a leveling build. Ruin only really shines as a great DPS talent with a high amount of spell hit (180+ or so) which you're not going to see until after dinging 70. Soul Link is generally only viable in conjunction with Fel Concentration so that you can effectively drain-tank. Demonic Knowledge is a great talent, but lacking the other spell damage multipliers it's a bit anemic.

If you are hoping for a drain-hunting build, I'd suggest something like 19/42/0 (there are some variations on this build). If leveling with this build, start with the Affliction talents first.

Hope that helps. Good luck!!!
