Hey there everyone,

So I finally got into leveling my shaman (and might I say how much fun it was!) and I'm just two levels shy of questing in Hellfire Peninsula.

Here's the thing, I've been enhancement ever since I started playing with talent points (except for when I played with elemental at 44-45) and I've been curious as to how I'll be able to switch to elemental and do fair damage while questing. Going in with such a lack of "proper" elemental gear, all I've been able to do for the time being is to buy as much "Of the Invoker" or "Of the Elder" gear for lvl 57-58 I can which, in all honesty, isn't going so well.

Do you guys think I should stick with enhancement for the first level or two in Hellfire so I can fill out my elemental set, or would I be able to tackle it as elemental with a few gaps in my gear?

Another question I would like to ask: What are your opinions on leveling as elemental? I have no doubt that the DPS is fine, but I'm curious to know how one keeps their opponents at bay so they can get more Lighting bolts in. Do I just stay at max range and hope they go down before they get near? Do I drop an earthbind totem and/or throw a frost shock out? I've looked around a bit but all the info I can find leans more to end-game content that leveling.

I thank you all in advance for any information you may offer.

Honestly, it's completely up to you. You can easily get elemental gear with the first couple of quests you do. I had respecced to elemental at 60, and didn't find it hard at all to quest. And contrary to the popular belief, I had little to no downtime with mana.

I usually spam LBs at max range, and usually by the third one the mob is almost dead, so I'll throw in a shock (frost or earth). I usually keep windfury on my weapon, in case I have to do melee, but that was rare.

Why you use WF as ele? You don't know is it going to proc so I think flametongue could be better since it goes up with your spell dmg. And it always procs =). I don't know which is better since I haven't tried elemental but at least as resto I prefer ft over wf.

I haven't had an issue with it not proccing, which is why I used it. I guess it's just a random thing with each person. But like I said, that's rarely anyway. I haven't been elemental for a while now.

I did forget to mention, if I don't use wf, I use Superior Wizard Oil.

That might have something to do with your lack of mana issues while leveling, hehe. Thanks for the tips. I just hit 58 and started picking up some elemental pieces. gonna try to max out my mining before I head over to Hellfire Peninsula but when I do, I'm sure I'll start enjoying elemental.

Awesome stuff! Yeah, I've enjoyed my shaman the most with all three specs (not at the same time of course lol). I mainly got tired of enhancement because I was used to "in-your-face" fighting with my rogue, so elemental was a nice change. Then at 70, I switched to Resto, and have been that way since.

Shammies are fun! =)
