Question for starting a rogueFollow

I was thinking of starting a rogue, but hear its more of a class to pick your own battles. In your opinion, do you think it is possible for a more straightforward person to learn and be good with the class even if they are more used to a warrior, paladin, or even a hunter?

Also, how would you rank the solo speed and difficulty? Thanks.

I personally have played the above mentioned classes and more. I LOVE my rogue. It is alot more fun than any of the classes you mentioned imo. The only class that I think is more fun is a druid. As for leveling, rogues level faster than any class that doesn't have a pet. Although, leveling depends on the individual. As fas as leveling specs, check out Theo's Rogue Compendium. It has all the info needed for leveling and such.

would you recommend a druid over a rogue then? I felt like a druid went reallllly slow.

Druid after 20 lvl is not slow anymore (cat form at 20lvl). Druid is hybrid class, you can play as a tank, dps or healer. Rogue is just dps class, but it is very nice to play.

I find shaman interesting also, and after 40lvl he is very fast in lvling.

my main is a 70 rogue and it was a blast to level. druids are definatly another fun class to play. but imo shamans are too slow to level

I have a 70 druid and loved playing her, loved everything about it. I tried a rogue quite a few times but really struggled. While most classes are relatively easy to get to 20, I usually gave up on a rogue way before that because I got sick of dying. You're squishy and other than dodging, you don't have a lot of ways to avoid mobs. Hubby kept telling me, if you can just get one to 20, it's a whole lot different... and he was right. Now she's 47. :)

In my opinion (one that I know a lot of people don't share) rogues are a bit more complex to play than druids. You have so many abilities it's hard sometimes to choose one. You have to know what the right finishing move is for the situation, how to handle mobs that run, adds, and when to use vanish (only if I KNOW I'm going to die.) But I absolutely LOVE playing her. She is a complete blast, and whirling fury of blades that kill things quicker than anything I have ever seen. I think I like playing her almost as much as my druid...

I would recommend you trying both. It doesn't take that long to get to level 20 with any class really, and that seems to be the area where leveling becomes easier. I still say that rogues level faster than any other class that doesn't have a pet. I personally have leveled multiple classes to level 70(all except warrior). I have even leveled multiple rogues just because friends want to reroll on other servers together. I thoroughly enjoy the rogue, others might not like them. I think PvP is the most fun with a rogue as well.
