I just did a few arena matches and got killed by another hunters pet.. whitch was a Ghost woIf. I though Blizz took away all of those, or did they only made so others could not tame them?

So, you missed out on one of our benefactor's most delightful acts of treachery and deceit. Ah, this is a tale for the gods themselves, but I will give you the Cliff's Notes:

1. Clever Hunter finds a way to tame Ghost Wolf. An expensive and elaborate way, but possible.
2. Hunters the world over worries their hair out trying to get this done before Blizzard removes the option.
3. Blizzard goes "Oh don't you worry, my Pokemon-playing little furry friends, don't have an aneurism. Spend as much time as you want getting this done, since we won't remove it. Ever..."
4. Most of the Hunters relaxes and makes the preparations at a leisurable pace. Still at great expense.
5. Suddenly and without warning, Blizzard strikes. GW can't be tamed anymore. No patch note, no warning, no explanation.
6. A metric fuckton of Hunters now sit with hundreds of gold worth of necessary taming items and nowhere to use them.
7. Small comfort: Those who did get them can still use them. Not that they are good pets, but still...

I mostly side with Blizzard when changes are done. I trust them enough to let them do their jobs and then I judge after the deed is done. I have little patience with the constant whining and bickering on the O-boards, and I mostly just enjoy watching spittle fly and retarded abbreviations scatter across the various forums as soon as a "nerf" is announced. This act though... This one I am not going to forget. We've never received an apology nor explanation. No blue post is trustworthy anymore and Blizzard is going to have to work a little bit harder to get me on their side after this...

You can't tame them anymore, but they weren't taken away. At least not from everyone, I've heard of a few people who lost theirs.

Edit: HAH! I still have the infamous quote as my signature!

I still have one of the wolves, and North isn't lying about the expense. Mostly, though, I felt badly about the time it took. I brought along my shaman and priest buddies, and we had to use the shaman's bloodlust to do this. I think we got it on the fourth try, which meant a half an hour of doing nothing...they were happy to help, though, and I love the pet. I'm happy that wolves are getting buffed in the expansion - they don't look like they'll be the best dps pets, but I think they'll be worth bringing on a raid.

Yeah they're getting buffed somewhat in the expansion (Wolves in general, not just ghost puppies) but I wouldn't be surprised if Blizz used this as an excuse to get rid of the ghost wolves that they "let us keep" Saying they dont work with the new talent trees or something.

Despite managing to get my own ghost wolf in time, Blizz's decision pissed me off too. It showed that blue posts aren't necessarily as certain as they'd like us to believe. The fact the mod that posted didn't even have to give the Hunter community an apology was ridiculous.

Currently in beta (although I doubt it'll go live) there's a new funky wolf on the market.

All I can say is:

OH!!
MY!!!
GAWD!!!!

This "wolf" is AWESOME!!!
This is the ONE aspect of WoW that has always dissappointed me. There are so many fabulous-looking cat models, but almost all teh dog/wolf models are boring, to say the least.

It would be totally amazing, and more than enough incentive to continue levelling, if I knew this pet was going to be tameable.

If Core Hounds become tamable, (and by that I mean plausible, not just possible, those things would tear me apart if I can't trap them) that's the only thing I'd go for before one of these wolves.

How was it expensive? It was one meta gem, which was fairly easy to get. So at most 100G which is almost nothing.

I got one!

On my server, those went for 250g. It's been a while, but I seem to recall having to buy a few more gems as well to make it active. Not sure, though. That could have been on another headpiece. I also had to spend money (and precious time) getting a headpiece with a Metaslot, since at the time I was using the Leather headpiece from Maulgar. All in all, I spent alot of gold which I really could have used on other things.

The waste of time alone... That was harsh...

Mine cost me a total of 350g. The only piece of headgear I had with a meta slot was my main piece. So I had to buy the taming meta which overwrote my Relentless Earthstorm. I then had to buy another Relentless Earthstorm after.

And this was pre-IoQD. If there's a more expensive tame in the history of the game, I'd like to hear it. And I was lucky enough to not actually waste my gold like many others after me.
