Right now im really thinking of going druid, what are some of the good and bad points of the class? Is 1-10 really as slow as people say, and is 10-20 even worse? Thanks.

Is it right to pick the class for 1 ability?

I chose Druid because I liked a variety of options when I play, i.e. I can tank, be a caster, or heal. I too spec'd Feral and agree with Kawainui that mangle is great, but I remeber how awesome it was when I got pounce around lvl 32 I think.

The advantage with Druid is you can experiment with your play style with one toon to find out what you enjoy doing the most. If you do create a Druid I recomend sticking with it until you get Cat form at level 20 though. As for slow leveling I don't recall have any problems with leveling.

This is one of my favorite hydrid classes.

3 things make druids so fun for me (emphasis on the for me part since everyone is different).

1. Steatlth! I can't emphasize this enough. For regualr questing, it's just great to be able to scout around or sneak past mobs you don;t want to fight. In battlegrounds it's even more fun :)

2. Healing. Another huge bonus to the druid. The ability to be a self or group healer is huge for questing.

3. The different forms. You can be pretty much anything for any situation. Love the flexibility of this class. Tons of fun with very little downtime.

To answer your question though. 1-10 was a pain. Just spamming the spells was a bummer.

10-20 was marginally better. With bear form you are able to take on more mobs and move a bit quicker. The class quests are a bit of a pain too from a hassle standpoint.

20-39 (where I am now) have been a blast. Once I got cat form, the levels just fly by. You just keep going and going with just heal pop every once in a while.

I know you've asked a few "what should I roll" questions. But the druid offers you a ton of flexibility and great opportunities to explore many facets of the game and still provide a great experience.

Roll with it, enjoy it and kick some boot :)

I love being an druid. I am not going to lie levels 1-20 is the worst but believe me make up for it once get 30 & up . IMO it on best class in game behind hunters. To me it was worth it; my druid is 70 and is my favorite toon.

Level 1-19 ruff
Level 20-29 so/so
Level 30-39 great improvement w/cat ability
level 40-on w/dire bear oh happy days
Mangles is cherry on top when you received that

Druid is not that slow to level and given the right balance of gear you can take on an elite about the same level as you are and win , so not a bad class , however it is one of the classes you need to be able to at least have a good idea of its 3 ways of killing as it can get complicated knowing how to handle fights , so not the best class for a beginner .

When i first started the game i tried a druid and had nothing but trouble and soon gave up but recently i started again and believe me a druid is great fun once you understand the game , at 30 sneak in behind target and bang , mob easily dead , if its a hard to kill mob then a little spell or two and bear wins , so much fun as it is like playing three classes at the same time.

Bad points are you are never the master of any of the 3 styles , Dps; rogues are better , tank; well warriors are still the best ,spells/healing; well other classes are better , but add the three together and you can be almost unstoppable.

My tip on any class as quests give the best exp now is do quests in more than one starter area , the reasoning is you can do green quests faster so equals faster levelling .

I also do not think druids are slow to level 1-10 they are no slower than any other class , getting the forms does slow down levelling though as it involves travel , 10-20 i think hunters are faster but as far as i can remember no other class is faster for me , so no problems to level , just remember the more you level the easier they become with the forms and spells and extra attacks .

Level 1-70 in 11 days played on my drood, feral all the way

1-10 eh look ma, I'm a caster!
10-20 eh look ma, I'm a tank!
20-70 eh look ma, I'm a sneaky rogue!

druids have pretty insane survivability from level 10 ( bear ) until infinity.

They are pretty forgiving as far as that accidental pulling of an extra mob(s) unlike squishy classes because you can just rejuv + shapeshift to bear and run if need be.

At level 70, all 3 specs are valuable in raids.

resto = king of arena healers (imo) Also great for MT healing and topping off random ranged dps with great mana per heal efficiency (mmmm lifebloom)

Feral kitty = great group buff for dps (5% crit) good dps which will hopefully only get better with end game scaling in WotLK

Feral Bear = great group buff for dps (5% crit) highest personal dps of any tank, great single target threat generation, huge damage mitigation. Ability to hold large crowds when controlled by a skilled individual and stay alive due to that mitigation.(ewwww Shattered Halls)

Balance = great group buff (5% spell crit) good dps and ability to throw in backup heals

Battle Rez is a huge lifesaver (Once battle rez'd tank on Maiden, brought him back to full with a Nature's Swiftness+Healing touch/Rejuv+Swiftmend and proceeded to down her lulz. Silly tank didn't want to back her up to knock me out of repentance)

We are also getting our own rez in WotLK which will make us more wanted for 5 man's than we are now.

Stealth is awesome. How often have you wanted to just sneak to the back of the cave and kill the guy you're looking for without spending an hour to clear and then having some idiot come tag him as you're fighting the last mob. Plus it's funny to stunlock rogues hehe.

Overall I started with a rogue, then a hunter, then a shammy and finally my druid.

My druid is now my main and has full sets for resto (1700 + heals) Feral kitty (2.6k attack power 34% crit 96 hit) and Feral Tank ( 15k hp, 27.5k armor, 32% dodge)

My opinion.... Roll a drood :-)

P.S. Did I mention Mangle is an everlasting ******?

Interesting, which race did you pick, tauren or night elf? I think I am going tauren because I love the whole native american feel.

Both races are fun , Tauren get their boost +15 to picking herbs which can be very useful if you like the boost from pots and other very useful items , plus the stomp which gives you a nice "ohh Sugar" chance to either get away or get the mobs attention , personally i love their stomp . ohh and a +5% to health

Elves get Shadowmeld Dodge chance increased by 1% , wisp (25% faster than normal ghost travel)Elves get +10 Nature Resistance which can be useful

I have both races as yet not to 70 but they will get there.

Choosing a race really really really isn't about the racial abilities so much as that's what you're going to be looking at for a loooooong time.

So you should:

1. Like how that toon looks (check online to see the different skins for all the shapeshifting forms)

2. Realize that you're either gonna be Horde or Alliance so pick the one that appeals to you the most.

Druid is teh sexorz. I love my druid, far beyond the fact my bank is full of an endless supply of epic items I have for my 4 off sets. Feral tank, Feral DPS, Caster DPS, Resto and PVP Resto.

I leveled 1-70 as balance and loved every minute of it, I spec'd resto a few months ago and it has been an absolute blast. I really missed boomkin but when I started to pvp and arena as resto I found out that I stay alive so much longer as a resto druid than boomkin and I found out I really do enjoy being a healer.

The Druid class is the only class I feel comfortable playing. I have a high level Warlock and Hunter as well, but after having played my Druid, they just seem so awkward, weak and trivial to play with. They can't stealth, they can't fly, they can't explore the oceans (well, Warlocks can, I guess, but not with the agility and speed of my Druid) and they can't switch between roles in a group by equipping new gear.

It's home to me.

Druids r much fun...
Agree that 0-10 is hell. But when u get higher u got so many options. I was feral to 44 then change between feral and resto till i hiit 58 then stayed resto. I really like to do instances, kept a feral and a resto set on me all the time, and had no problems tanking or healing any instance before outlands as feralspec, havent tried tanking there. But its awesom just to need a tank or healer to get a grp going, the 3 dps is always easy to get.

Havent hit 70 yet, farming hk and marks in bg's, im 64 atm and always tophealer in wsg ab eots. So much fun running arround spamming hots, keeping urself and 5 m8s alive while alliances go down.

I got 70 lock, 66 sha, used to have 60 hunter before bc, druids is imo the most fun class ive played.

Go druid. You will regret it between 1 and 10, think "hmm, maybe this will be ok" between 10 and 20, post-20 you will be happy, post-30 thrilled and post 36 (when you get pounce, a stun opener) you won't ever be able to play anything else. I've been feral since day one and it's wonderful. I love that, nonetheless, in the midst of grinding I can suddenly pop into caster and nuke something to death just for variety (albeit much slower than if I were balance). I love that in LFG I can say "tank/dps." I love that if I pull 6 mobs it's no big deal and I can usually survive. I love that I can stealth to quest objectives or nodes. I love that I never have to eat or drink (since I got all that +int pvp gear at least). What do I not like? Hmmm. Wish we were better in arena. But that's it.

I was tanking Heroic MgT the other night and decided I didn't like the squirrels. I started killing them all with moonfire, but then I realized...pounce is so cool.

So any that I could get to without aggroing the next pull I would go into kitty, stealth and pounce.

It's kinda twisted, but I think the animation from pounce caused more blood to come out of the squirrel than is physically possible lol.

But I digress....

Drood FTW!!!

My feelings exactly. I have 103 levels to go until I have a 70 of each class so I have spent a LOT of time playing other classes, but the druid just fits me like a glove. I'm thankful that fate made me pick druid from reading Blizzards (certainly at the time) quite innacurate class descriptions when I rolled my first toon.

I picked druid because paladin lost all its fun.

Ret - my gear was never up to par with everyone elses and I'd get face rolled.
Prot - Sorta lost fun tanking after UB
Holy - Ohhh no.. Stand still and heal people? lol

Druid on the other hand lets me run and heal + be a night elf.

The reason i play druid:
I can tank/dps/heal with a switch of gear. I have healed heroic as feral without problems.
I can solo 4ppl group quest elite mob/mobs, such *** Ruul the darkener.
No other class can do that, example - Pally can tank/heal or dps/heal with gear switch, but if they want to heal/tank/dps with one spec, they can't.

I recently started playing Druid, really like it (lvl 22 now).

There are two things I still have not gotten used to: the meleeing (I have played hunter up till now) and sometimes the "not being able to see your enemy clearly" whilest being in bear form.

Maybe someone can give me a tip on the last issue? I find myself targetting friendly players by accident because I don't "see" the enemy mob, especially when the enemy is rather small/thin.

Try using tab to target enemies.

I do that, but still, sometimes it goes wrong. Have to get used to the size of the bear ;)

funny, you have problem seeing small targets, i have problem seeing middle toenail of nightbane as tank, the whole screen is filled with one toe. I think blizzard is saying if you want to tank nightbane as bear then here's a middle finger for you.
