Is it true that warlocks are just a specialty class and have a hard time finding our way into an instance group?

Warlocks bring top notch dps , healthstones to all group, soul-saving for healer (meaning no corpse running at least once in 30mins),cc (banish, enlsave, seduce),if using imp they bring quite hp buff to whole group (raid soon=),ummm, they can curse of elements to boost other locks ,spriests, mages and to some degree hunter dmg....

Not true !

Nope.

If you are having a hard time finding your way into groups, try to figure out why.

Are you too shy?
  • If you don't speak up fast enough, someone else may get chosen instead of you.
  • If you aren't confident in dealing with people, others may see it as not being confident in your abilities to deal with mobs.

  • Do you have a bad reputation?
  • In prior instances did you ninja loot?
  • Did you run off and do your own thing instead of stay with the group?
  • Did you grab aggro from the tank?
  • Did you ever dump aggro onto a healer?
  • Do you complain that a healer favors the tank over your clothy ***?
  • Do you complain if you lose rolls for BoE loot?
  • Do you complain if someone else who can use a piece of loot gets it instead of you?
  • Do you play like you are just learning the class?
  • Have you ever griefed "just for the hell of it!"?
  • Have you ever been put on someone's ignore list?
  • Have you ever been warned or suspended by Blizz?
  • etc. etc. etc. There are many, many more reasons to have a bad rep.

  • Also, remember that you are a DPSer, and that DPSers are easy to find. To the quick and the confident go the invites. Be a bit outgoing and don't ***** the pooch (e.g. do something to give yourself a bad rep) and you should be OK in getting into instance runs.

    Not true.

Compared to trying to pug on my rogue or (far worse) my pally when ret, my lock has an easier time. At least on my server. Warlocks are a DPS/utility class so they bring quite a bit to most 5-toon instances, not to mention raids.

But as mentioned, DPS is comparatively easy to find. My server seems to be maggoty with heroic/t4 warlocks right now for some reason. So sometimes it can be tough to get into a group. But when you do try your best to make a good impression and you'll have a long friends list... invaluable to say the least.

    Good luck!

Lets look at a list of instances (with heroic difficulty) where a lock can use some of it's skills, or where CC is not really a huge factor

Let's start off with instances with several demon/elemental mobs.

Mech, Bot, Underbog, and MGT all fall into this category. Technically SV does also, but most people will skip the elementals and the only one you need to worry about are the ones at the first boss.

Now let's look at instances that don't require a lot of CC.

Black Morass, Arc, Blood Furnace (except for that event), and Ramparts all fall into this category. You can put Crypts here also, but those non elite adds can be quite a pain.

Now let's look at the remaining instances.

Slave Pens, Shatterd Halls, Sethk halls, Shadow Lab, Durnhold, and Mana Tombs.
Honestly Slave Pens is really easy and most random groups should be able to do it. The other instances are pretty CC heavy. I'll be honest though when I say that no one likes doing SethK halls, SL, Durnhold, or Mana Tombs. Most people consider them to be too long for the badges.

So in the end, you should easily get groups for instances that people want to do, but you might have more trouble getting into the ones people don't generally do.

I get invited constantly. My other toon is a Fury warrior, want to talk about a hard time getting invites!? At least a lock as some CC to go with their DPS.

    LF Warlock H MgT
    LF Warlock Mech
    LF Warlock <raid pug>

Never a LF Hunter. Never a LF Rogue. Rofl at LF Ret Pally.

Warlocks shouldn't have much trouble getting into a group. The only DPS class I see more calls for is mages. A lot of people on my server have a thing for sheep.

Personally, my paladin tank never asks for a mage unless they have Polymorph: Turtle. I'll take Seed of Corruption over a sheep any day.

I have a level 70 demonology warlock and little to no experience, with groups. Only because of the lack of time to complete an instance, when I play.

When I do play and hang out in Shat or Org, I do see people requesting locks occasionally, when not spamming non-sense in the trade channel.

If you don't want to sit in a city, looking for a group, then just put yourself into the LFG search. I'd put as a note, your spec and maybe experience in instances. This could get people to invite you to join them, if they're well experienced and don't mind giving tips.

I have done only 1 or 2 of the instances in Outlands. Normally, I'm playing solo, with my fel guard. During one of those instances, I was asked to use my succy, which I honestly never used before. A fellow lock user in my guild kept whispering me, informing me what to do with her in the instance. We ended up doing very well and I felt I played my roll well, even if I had the feeling of being a newb, not knowing what to do.

So that's another possibility. Get in a guild that runs instances. I'm sure they'll help you learn your roll, hopefully in a nice way.

No. The only reason you'd have a problem is: They want a specific class/CC (if you're good, you can be an effective CC as a warlock) and/or you have a bad reputation among players (chek aut mai ninja'd purplz gais!).
