So all (yes all, all 4 of them) of the tanks have evaporated from my guild.

2 left to join a PvE server

2 cancelled their accounts due to family aggro.

I respecced feral to become a tank for my now tankless guild, since apparantly I am the ONLY one that can respec (may I say that I was almost comepletely geared out as balance), because the ret pally hates tanking and while the other druid is feral he refuses to tank.

So...here I am, 3 days after respeccing, and my gear is terrible. I picked up the dragonhide rep set just to have SOMETHING other than 69 greens, and I've been running pre-raid instances every night at least 2 times in a desperate attempt to get better gear so we don't have to stop kara runs.

Here's the issue...all they do is crab about how terrible my gear is and how even heroics are a stretch...yes, I know. I respecced 2 days ago. And yet...when I'm trying to get a group together to do something that I need to do (like farm rep for earthwarden), everyone's all "but I need ..... (insert other instance here)"

And since I'm the only tank...I go.

My question is...what is the best gear to get that wont take 15k hours of farming rep or whatnot..I'm sick of hearing them crab about my gear.

salena on hakkar, if you wanna look at my terrible, terrible gear.

/end rant

sorry that was long. :)

Might I suggest a guild change? I'm not sure I'd want to be in a situation where no one else is willing to step up to the challenge, but just want to sit back and gripe about your gear.

As far as tanking gear, the best place to go is Emmerald.net. It has lists of gear for each slot and where (quest, drop, vendor, crafted) you can get it.

Also, check out this thread on the Emmerald forums. The poster lists about 5 options for each slot for a starter tank set and even gives a recommendation on which is the "best investment".

At a quick glance, the first thing I'd recommend is get the Heavy Clefthoof set (chest, legs, feet) for the +Def which you need badly. And, go grab Braxxis' Staff of Slumber. Those upgrades alone will get you well on the way.

Good luck.

sweet site! I've never heard of it before, I usually live at the armory, lol.

There are 2 LW's that can make that set, but don't want to becuase its a pain. I even offered to help grind (I'm a skinner) the heavy clefthoof leather but they were like eh...but there's other stuff I need too...

wth? do you WANT to do heroics/raids, or not!? lol

I was looking for braxxis when I 1st speccd, but there were none to be had.

I don't really want to /gquit...when they weren't griping about my gear everyone was nice...I think they're used to the tanks' armor that left...even the self proclaimed "l33t" dps warrior with s1 (lolz) left, and he would have been soo much better to keep than me as a tank (yeah, except he wiped us all the time and blamed it on random reasons...like..oh this pat only spawns .05% of the time, I didn't know it was gonna be there...lolwut?)

I think everyone is just frusterated. However, I do intend to have a talk with everyone and be like listen..if you want me to mt, then you need to bear with me (lol pun) as I get the gear I need to we dont consta-wipe.

thanks for the site though its on my favorites!! :)

Uh, your guild sounds like a disaster, no offense. They ask you to respec to tank and won't help you make the basic tank starter gear? That's absurd.

Buy heavy clefthoof set, delicate eternium ring from AH, braxxis staff. Get the tanking neckpiece from SSO at exalted and either buy a stylin' purple hat from AH or get the s2 head, hands and shoulders to round out the set. PvP gear is very useful for feral tanking; if you don't have any honor in the bank, even the blue rep gear will help.

Easily-obtainable quest pieces include http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30942;source=live and http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30944;source=live but you may have already finished those quests. The PvP belt and wrist are upgrades from those two.

Edit: Just armoried you: You're doing pretty good. The clefthood set will help immensely.

There's little, alas, that drops in pre-raid dungeons that's very useful to bear tanks. From what I see, you could benefit from http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=27891;source=live and http://wow.allakhazam.com/search.html?q=thoriumweave&locale=enUS&source=live. So farm Slabs and Mech, maybe Durn for the nice tanking ring 1st boss drops (can't remember its name).

If you feel rich, shop for Badge of Tenacity on AH. Best bear tank trinket out there, but pricey.

lol it is a little bit of a disaster. Its gotten a little ridiculous...ever since before I joined. lol. I love the friends I play with though...There's like...5ish reliable people who are ALWAYS on, and will help as long as they aren't in the middle of something. Then there's the other members...that annoy the crap out of me.

Like the druid that is a crazy tank...I wasn't on last week's kara run but I heard he ran around in bear form..in circles. wipe-wipe-wipe...wipe..lol

And the kid that my b/f recruited, whose g/f is sweet as pie. he, on the other hand...begs for runs until we all want to smack him. Last night we were running bm for a couple that needed to finish their herbalism/alchemy quest, and he whipered us, one by one, when can u run me thru sm?

I've run that kid a ridiculous amount of times thru sm...but he keeps creating alts. I told him last ngiht that I wasn't running him anymore unless it was on his 53 warrior main.

sorry i know im crabbing ill stop lol.

Tanks are a ***** to gear up. Feral Tanks are the ********* of ******* to gear up. There's is absolutely zero tanking leather that drops in Kara. You can get cloaks, rings, necklaces, and T4 hand/head tokens, but as far as loot boss -> equip leather goodness, feral tanks get the epic shaft.

You respecced for your guild. You've figured out where you can go to get some of the upgrades you need to be a viable 70 tank. Sounds to me like you were happy as a boomkin but you "took one for the team" so to speak and now the "team" has hung you out to dry.

I wouldn't even try salvaging the situation. They've exposed their true colors. Move on.

Yea really, I agree with everyone, your dedication to the guild is not being repaid in kind by them. So tell them to go ***** themselves.

Re-spec back to moonkin and transfer to Thrall, my guild could use you :) ::hint hint:: ::wink wink::

That is if you're Alliance.

I incline to agree with everybody., I think should see if guild recuit some warriors or pallys to tanks. The only problem with you being tank sound like not going to like it because you have to change most if not all gear. Hard go from a dps to a tank if love dpsing.

Are you the guild leader? I am assuming not.

Where is the guild leadership/officers that should take it upon themselves to gear you up everynight until your Kara ready. I would have to agree with everyone to move on.

Put the 5 people you like on your friends list and stay in touch with them. Hey if you find a good guild try to bring them over with you. I think your awesome for stepping up to try and be the guilds MT. I think your guild uterly fails for taking no action in helping/supporting you as you become the guilds MT.

Other guilds would be more than happy to have you. Your the bigest asset in this Game, followed closly by us healers.

I have changed guilds recently, and like people here on the forum told me, if you leave that does not mean you have to stop playing with the friends you like in that guild. I also had a lot of people I liked a lot in my former one, but due to some stuff I was almost always stressed and not enjoying myself as much as I could.

Look how much crying was posted before we actually read her question. As if this drama brought anything of value to better answer the question.
Now if you check the replies, you will see the same negative unnecessary attitude.

I have to say that at first, she did get my sympathy for having to deal with such a guild, but too much whining in every msg she leaves and you know it can't be the guild.

When you're subjected to an injustice, it's entirely normal to vent a certain amount of frustration. It makes me wonder if you've ever tanked a 70 dungeon, much less a raid. To go from back row dps to snout-in-crotch tank is often an uncomfortable transition. When you seek to make that transition in order to meet the needs of that group and said group turns around and not only does little/nothing to support you but routinely cuts you down (ie. ragging on her about the gear they won't help her to upgrade), it's not surprising that it would be disheartening and aggravating.

Seriously, have some empathy.

There is a simple solution to this!

Tell them you agree to tank but...

Only in Moonkin!

Panzerkin FTW!

As someone who's tried it up to Curator, this is great fun! :)

Come on over :-)

On the other side, pretty much everything I would give you for advice has already been said so I won't beat a dead dog.

Having Fun>stupid people

I back up the put your friends on friends list and find a new guild line of thought.

I started heroics with:

Stylin" Purple Hat, Necklace of the Deep, S1 shoulders, Thoriumweave cloak, Heavy Clefthoof Vest, Umberhowl's Collar, S1 Gloves, Braxxis Staff of Slumber, Manimal's Cinch, Heavy Clefthoof Leggings, Heavy Clefthoof Boots, Delicate Eternium Ring, Lightwarden's Band, Charm of Alacrity and some other random trinket.

Here's where I'm at today (working to upgrade s1 shoulders to s2,headpiece to s2 and staff to Earthwarden)

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Thorium+Brotherhood&n=Galenmoon

I have tanked every heroic, Full Kara and first 2 bosses in ZA thus far.

Good luck and remember to HAVE FUN!(if not, what's the point?)

(BTW: Please check out my spec. It's pretty much the way to go for tanking IMO)

Everything your guild has said to you would be kindof rude and dismissive from a random stranger. The fact that they cant be bothered to work with you FOR THE GOOD OF THE GUILD is unforgivable IMO.

A guild with a core of 10+ players who (like you seem to be) are willing to be flexible, put in legwork and see the big picture (help gear your only willing tank now so everyone can have more phat epix later) can turn this game inside out.
