Leveling as a Shaman (Enhancement)Follow

Talent choices while leveling, what is best for enhancement?

I have an elemental shaman already:

I'm leveling an enhancement shaman:

I'm thinking more of a level by level opinion if you can.

I noobed my way to 70 with the elem sham and initially had put talent points into all 3 cats as i saw fit. I respec'd based on a popular pvp build after I hit 70.

With the new Sham I've put all talents into Enhance to get dual wield at 40.

Shield Specialisation is sometimes nice in the early levels, but you won't ever use it when you get Dual Wield. Toughness is a PvP talent; you'll get better mitigation per point from Anticipation if you really want survivability. To be honest though, neither of these are that great if the alternative is Weapon Mastery or Mental Quickness.

I'd respec to something like this: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=hZxVbdVzsm

You can take Mental Quickness instead of Weapon Mastery if you want.

Then just fill out the top tiers in turn: 40-44 get Stormstrike, Dual Wield and Dual Wield Specialisation, 45-49 get Unleashed Rage, and 50 get Shamanistic Rage. At 51-53 get Mental Quickness (or finish off Weapon Mastery if you got MQ before), and then the Enhancement tree is pretty much done (70 builds will usually finish off Improved Weapon Totems, but you can ignore that last point for leveling). The rest of the points can go in Resto or Elemental as you see fit (though Elemental is perhaps a better choice for leveling; the big Resto talent - Nature's Guidance - you won't get till right at the end, whereas with Elemental there are some nice goodies straight away).

Perfect; thanks for the reply!

I think it is worth it to spec the sheild early on (pre lev 40 and DW) and then relearn with a shift to mana increase afterwards. The shield basically doubles my armor and with WF proc'ing alot, frost shocks, fire novas and warstomp I can almost always defeat 3 same level melee mobs and running out of mana usually isn't an issue. The shield gives me the extra time to get off another round of FS, FN and possible WF's.

I'd also have to say that I'm leaning towards getting the NS at 70 as I love the instant CL burst.

I would advise against it. This is the best spec you could aim for with NS at 70, but it's just not as good as the cookiecutter Enhancement spec for both PvE and PvP. One NS-ed CL is not worth the lower sustained DPS in PvE, and while it might help you grind people down faster in PvP, you'll be nerfing your own survivability in the process by not having Shamanistic Rage.

Cookiecutter at 70: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/shaman/talents.html. There is some grey area here, depending on whether you want to focus on PvP or PvE. For PvE, leave it as is. For PvP, you will probably want to take points out of Imp. Weapon Totems, Enhancing Totems, and one point out of Guardian Totems and throw them into Toughness.

Great information Gaud, I'll definiteley look into the other specs besides NS for the last talent.

I still like the idea of discussing a shaman spec/weapon idea for a pre-70 group. Like I said, I specialized shields as I felt it gave me alot of time to patiently play, and win, my pve battles. I now realize that you can respec for very little cost at any point in the game to match what is most comfortable to your style of play. Once I get DW I'll resec out of sheilds and into mana as the only other option and I don't expect to ever use a sheild after 40.

On the issue of 2H/DW I have to say that I've had two Shams now and I have to say the with both elem and enhance I've never liked the 2H. I seem to prefer a fast one hand and the best sheild available to give me time to drop tots and ES, FS to finsish the deal. We'll see how that translates to DW when I hit 40.

As an aside if anybody reads this:

The difficult thing about this forum is that the best and most knowlegible posters have too much endgame in mind, we need to hear about how to excel and maximize the early levels so that we achieve the most success and accordingly the most enjoyment for wow. I, and may others, have decided that this is the fun part of the game or are leveling toons and we just want to know how to best strategy to be successful.

Case in point:

I'm leveling a warrior, a lock and a mage right now and even though I started my 1st toon with a sham and know the play style the best, I still really feel that we have alot of plusses on our side to level up pretty fast. I can take on so many mobs at once that it is crazy, we don't run we just kill and kill and kill some more. I think I've ultimately taken on up to 7-8 mobs and stayed alive whereas the other classes I've played 3 is just about the max unless you start popping pots which seems silly at this leve.

I guess what I'm saying is that we all listen to the big timers in here as far as endgame but in reality there are some different specs and play styles that can make for a more enjoyable experience than just trying to get to lev 70 mooyah as fast as you can.

As always, I appreciate any comments on topic and not on my addled ramblings.

If you want to duel wield, with WF on both weapons, try picking slower weapons(don't go by DPS)with around 2-3 weapon speed, because WF has a hidden 3second cool down, therefor hitting max damage
