Feral Cat Attack RotationFollow

My 6 year old son has a level 61 feral druid. He and I (shadow priest) play together about an hour a day. Could someone recommend a simple attack rotation for him? He mainly fights in cat form, and he has mangle.

Edit: spelling

If he's not able to get behind the mob, a standard rotation would be Mangle until he's got 5 combo points and then Rip. Repeat.

If he's able to get (and stay) behind the mob, a standard rotation would be Mangle, then Shred to 5 combo points and Rip. Repeat.

I'm guessing that getting and staying behind the mob for an entire fight (ie. having you tank) might not always be a viable option, so the Mangle + Rip rotation might be the easiest to work with.

To exlain this a bit further you can read the sticky. In the sticky is will explain that it is not wise to use all the other skills available because of the ratio dps/rage. When pve is concerned and you whish to maximize damage, Aurelius is spot on. In case of extra utility, he could go bear and stun when you two are duo questing or demo roar, or use ferocious bite as a finishing move. But these would bring less damage per rage used.

For duo'ing, I'd assume it's going to be VERY similar to solo'ing because a feral druid can kill things quite easily solo. For solo, it goes....

Stealth
Pounce
Mangle
Shred (or Shred x2 if I got a clearcasting proc)
(I usually put on Faerie Fire here since I need to wait for energy anyways)
Mangle until mob is about 20%
Ferocious Bite

I usually only get 2 mangles total and 1 shred before ferocious bite. Generally, rip won't last long enough to get max dps (unless it's on an elite or a boss) which is the reason I usually finish with ferocious bite for quests/grinding. This is of course not taking into account using Maim to interupt spells and following it with shred, but that rotation is pretty standard for me at 70. Duo'ing, I'd assume it's probably better too since mobs really won't last long enough for rip to be effective.

That's a good guide with explanations to what a cat should do and why.

Not that you should go to something that complicated and efficient with a 6 years old, but it's still interesting to know that stuff.

Personally, while duoing with a caster, I like to get my opener in, wait for at least 80 energy, then get a quick maim > shred between casts. But that is just me, and I don't think you have maim at 61 (you get it at...62? 64?). Really, just mangle until it is at 35% or so and then FB if you have 4 or 5 combo points. Sometimes, depending on how good your gear is, a 3-point fb will be less damage than a mangle, and it uses all of your energy on the side. Because of the using all of your energy part, I rarely use fb any more. Even though it is slower (I think, haven't actually timed it) to maim > shred, I find myself using that on anything that can be incapacitated.
