The big decisionFollow

Okay, I am a fairly new druid (just leveled him to 70 cause i got sick of my priest >.<) and I wanted to get a little input from fellow, more experienced druids.

I leveled feral all the way, but did not have a set build. I more or less threw my points into whatever looked good at that particular level. Now that I'm 70 I want to pick out a real build, something that is good for pvp. I will raid slightly, but I don't usually dedicate my time infront of the computer for very long amounts of time. I want to be a boomkin, but I've been warned by multiple people that I will run out of mana and get totally slaughtered in pvp. The only benefit i see from being a balance druid is, that I can be a healer when not in boomkin. I also feel like feral would be good, and versatile in pvp. I'm just lost as to which one would fit me the best. I am casual and love pvp above all things, but I don't wan to be a healer cause thats why i broke away from my priest. I love my druid very much.

Thank you in advanced for any help, I'm looking for all I can get. Sorry if my post is sketchy, this is my first one haha.

Alright well a couple things really.

If you leveled 1-70 as feral then you probably have at least a halfway decent feral set of gear. If you want to go balance, then unless you have a completely separate set of gear waiting for you, I would pvp as feral until you can bank enough honor/marks to get the balance pvp gear. You can also pick up the balance honored gear from the rep vendors if you have the rep with each faction.

Then you can switch to your good ol' boomkin.

The biggest thing you really have to understand is that no one can tell you how to play. No boomkins don't get OMGWTFPWNED in battlegrounds by every single class. They are just like most classes, they have some they do well against and others that they don't.

You also have to realize that at the 70 level cap there are people who are fresh 70's like yourself and there are people who have been 70 for almost 2 years and have all the best gear/strat/experience for their class. So don't get discouraged.

The last thing I can tell you is just have fun. You can always buy a set of starter boomkin gear off the AH and pick up the rep pieces and just have at it right away if you want.

It's really a decision you have to make yourself.

Each spec is what you make of it.

And you can always spec back!

Remember the rep pvp sets, these should allow you to easily start out somewhat usefull in a new spec or at least help you gear up enough to run some instances as your new spec and collect better pve gear.

Some people like the pvp grind for epics to be used in pve, some just like pve and dont mind doing instance after instance. Find out what you like or combine it.

I would go:
(in no particular order)
pvp for weapons and perhaps armor
rep pvp gear (to start in a new spec, if you have absolutley nothing usefull already)
AH for additional gear
crafted if money/mats allow
instances

I normally raid as resto and never run out of mana. I've raided a few times as boomkin and never ran out of mana. As long as you spec 3/3 dreamstate in the balance tree, and get 3/3 Intensity out of the resto tree mana shouldn't be that big of an issue.

Oh and in PVP you can expect to run out of mana, I go oom faster as boomkin pvping than resto, but I've found myself oom so many times as a resto.

My only beef with boomkin in pvp, and I'm most likely very biased in this, is I've been so used to having nature's perfection, which when it procs is 4% damage reduction stacking up to 3 times, as a resto druid that not having it as a boomkin just made me feel like my survival rate had been nerfed down.

My advice is to try all the specs out for pvp. There are some pretty good builds out there you could use and have a lot of fun with.
