Me and a guildy(both bear tanks) have both done our SFF(Swift Flight Form) questline and now have a slight dispute over which Idol to have on while tanking.

I like Idol of Terror better due to the dodge and armor off of the proc. (procs all the time for me in bear form)

He is a firm beleiver that Idol of the Raven Goddess is better.

I guess in my "everything has a use" opinion, I would say that the Idol of the Raven Goddess would be better in raids and the Idol of Terror would be better used in 5 mans.

Does anyone have somemore insight that I'm missing, or is it basically "you can use whatever"?

First off Grats on our epic blackbird! Second....Idol of Terror hands down. The bonus to crit, dodge and armor you get <on an almost constant proc> are far better than a 20 crit rating increase.

Idol of Terror, no question. +65 agility is what...about +2.5-3% crit (depending on whether you have BoK or not)? Let's say it only procs half the time...that's still better for you personally than +20 crit rating (< +1.0% crit). It doesn't help your group at all, but this is how I look at it:

+65 agility = (appriximately) 4% dodge, 3% crit, and a bit of armor for you in bear.

+20 crit rating = (approximately) 1% for you, and varies in terms of benefit for the rest of the group.

Different classes will benefit differently from +20% crit rating. If I'm not mistaken, that's not even +1% crit for a hunter (if memory serves, +28 crit rating = +1% crit for a hunter). I think (could well be wrong) that rogues and warriors have it even worse.

In short, we're talking a fairly nominal increase to dps classes and here's the kicker: most tank groups are stacked around buffing the tank, not having the tank buff the melee. You've got a maximum of 4 other people that can benefit from the +20 crit rating...it's not worth stacking the melee in the tank group for such a nominal benefit.

If the raid group is significantly overgeared for the encounter, I could see using the Idol of the Raven Goddess for sh*ts and giggles. For challenging or progression content, Idol of Terror is the way to go (imo).

QFT. Idol of Terror FTW.

In fact, tell your guildy there to respec resto. Any druid that wouldn't give his left paw for +65 agility for themselves relative to +20 crit for their party is not feral at heart. +65 agility on a nearly constant proc while in combat is pure goodness.

Thanks for the quick replies, not mention siding with me, hehe.

I will definetly tell him to go get MY IDOL, and to do so soon since I know he has the badges.

Otherwise he might miss a raid, Raid Leader FTW!! LOL

For a kitty DPS you could possibly justify the Raven Goddess as overall raid DPS might increase enough to be worth it (I don't use it however) but for the tank, personal threat generation is more important as it allows threat capped DPS to do more DPS.

I would consider using the Raven Goddess if the rest of the group I was in consisted of 4 other physical dps classes. Since my little sub-group within a raid usually consists of at least one caster, I'm wary of the benefits. Any more than 1 caster in the group and there's no question... no +20 crit rating for j00!
