Kill Command: Give the command to kill, increasing your pet’s damage done from special attacks by 60%. Each special attack done by the pet reduces the damage bonus by 20%. (75 Mana, 45 yd range, Instant, 2 min cooldown)

3 attacks for 60%, 40%, then 20%, then a 2 minute (or 84 second) wait for another hit? wtf.

Eh. If you're BM, just make sure to pop it when Cobra Strikes procs.

I see them lowering the CD on this, or retooling it in some other way.

3 special attacks gain a 60% damage increase. After 3 special attacks that bonus is gone. Your pet still hits and still can do special attacks. They just won't have the bonus dmg from this ability. You don't have to wait 2 minutes for your pet to attack or even use special attacks.

No, one special attack gets a 60% boost, the next gets a 40% boost and the third gets a 20% boost. It's right there in the description.

This would be a good skill if the recast weren't so long. As it stands, this is actually a nerf unless the timer gets reduced to about 30 seconds.

How is it a nerf? Your pet will still do all of its normal damage except 3 attacks, every 2 minutes, will hit for 60/40/20% more. Ok, maybe it isn't a great skill as it stands, but it certainly isn't a nerf.

Ok so we're talking special attacks?

I'm guessing this is Gore, LB etc
If so:

		LB	Gore
Min 137	37
Max 207	122
Avg 172	79.5
AP Bonus	0.0125	0
AP 1600	1600
New Avg 192	79.5
Hit 1 307.2	127.2
Hit 2 268.8	111.3
Hit 3 230.4	95.4
Before 576	238.5
After 806.4	333.9
Difference	230.4	95.4

So with LB it gives just under 2dps and with gore a measly 0.8 dps
Compared to the old Kill command (127 damage every 5 seconds, 25dps) it's pretty poor.

oh my bad, I read "kill command" but I was seeing it as an additional ability on top of kill command, in that case, dude that sucks.

Yeah my bad. That's what I meant to say. Basically it's additional dmg to special attacks but special attacks aren't on the same cool-down as this ability, meaning your pet will still use them but without the extra dmg.

As for the timer does the cool-down timer start after it's activated or after the boost is gone? That's a difference of about what 5-15 seconds?

I think the 2 minute cool down would be okay if they increased the dmg or the dmg didn't drop so quickly. In other words the overall dps would be the same but having the dmg stay up longer and/or higher would increase the burst dmg. Which is nice for pvp and short fights.

I'd always thought Kill Command helped by giving your pet a threat spike right after you crit, to help manage aggro. Like I've said before, I've been out of the hunter loop for a while, but I hope there is something implemented to smooth out aggro generation along with this change.

This is just a soloing concern, rather than worrying for the sake of raid dps. But one of my hunters exists solely for farming, and I'd hate for my little farmbot's life to get too complicated.

Kill Command was initially created as a reactive ability, something you hit when an event happened (a critical strike). The problem was that the event happened too often, and players just stuck it into a macro. Kill Command basically just became a flat damage increase. Players are right to assume their DPS has jumped because of shots not interrupting the auto-shot timer (it has, our tests show a ~140 DPS increase in some trials), so I think it's fair to say the class' sustained DPS will be okay.

People take every nerf as a personal attack, but realize that this game is not just about hunters. If hunters have one ability that is a bit OP from it's original design, do you expect the developers to bring EVERY other class up to that level, or just bump hunters down a notch? As you can tell from the quote I linked, KC wasn't supposed to be something like arcane shot, more of something like overpower or tranq shot - you use it when an event happens, and that event is not likely to occur very often, instead of something used every cooldown so it can fit into a macro.

It went from effectively an extra pet attack +127 damage every 5-6 seconds to an extra pet attack +20% damage every two minutes.

Nerfed to about 4% of its original strength. That's not "down a notch". That's "this is now a total waste of mana, avoid it like the plague."

I guess it is special attacks, not normal ones. But how much harder is the new focus dump going to hit compared to standard pet melee hits?
