so i have been shadowstep for all of 2 days now and omg its amazing i have "seen the light" as the subject says. Was in WSG and there it was my arch nemesis....a frost mage just chompping on some food. So i snuck up and did garrote proceded to nuke it for 1 or 2 seconds then he forze and blinked me...i waited for him to start casting then BAM deadly throw ShS more nukage blind vanish and reapeat...he was dead...i had done it i had kill the frost mage. Then sitting on roughly 70% HP i saw a hunter mark me CoS preparation vanish and i managed to kill the hunter too!!!!! All be it i ended on like 4% HP ty Cheat Death. So thats my ShS moment what are your moments?? when did you all realise it was amazing. No my next challenge is a druid and disc. priest.

I used to have a very odd trispec, something like this. I was hesitant to drop the 5% dodge and 5% parry, I solo'd a lot and found it quite useful. Then at 70, I got some more or less better gear and managed to keep my parry/dodge rating the same as they were before the new gear while taking points out of Deflection and Lightning Reflexes. I was quick to set up a build looking like this, but before taking it I realized I lacked stat-boosting talents. Figuring Sinister Calling gave me a whooping 15% agility bonus, I figured I'd give this a try before going to what I had in mind. Shadowstep blew me away. Though I had always dominated 60's PvP I wasn't too good at 70's PvP yet... Regardless, shadowstep made my life a whole lot easier. After gaining some insight in 70's PvP I cleared the rough edges of my spec and slowly developped it into what I have now, this. Now I spend my time being mad at blizzard for putting the new WOTLK must-have dagger talent Slaughter from the Shadows so high up the subtlety tree that I can't very well try out the spec I've been wanting to try for ages (Something like this... haven't completly worked it out yet, but it involves seal fate and prep).

Questions: Why Imp Evis over Murder? Why no Cheat Death or Deadliness? And if you're going for opening bursts, why Heightened Senses over Master of Subtlety?

Honestly, I don't get those choices. Do you have a WWS (or similar) for this build anywhere?

Most of them are based on personal prefference.

Imp Evis over Murder - I've given up trying to raid on my rogue. Nobody's gonna let me raid as daggers, and I love the subtlety tree too much. I've never been totally sure if murder works in PvP, though I've assumed it to. The reason there's 1 point in imp evis is basically because I used to have 3 and took 2 out to place them in imp expose armor, which I felt was going to be a very nifty trinket. My new WOTLK build takes the point from the assassination tree and puts it somewhere in the subt tree... At the moment it's more of a leftover point with no real alternatives to put it in.

As for Cheat Death; I used to have it, until the nerf. I thought 210 resilience would be good enough to make it worthwhile, but apperantly it isn't... Whenever Cheat Death procced I died anyway 1 second later. In the situation I was in, removing Cheat Death from my spec meant I could pick up the second point in Dirty Tricks and Elusiveness, two talents I had never really bothered with but had always had an eye on.

Why no Deadliness? I ran out of points. Not having Deadliness is more or less my sole real regret... The thing is that I just can't afford to drop 5 points to pick it up. Most of the talents I currently have in my spec have become so 'grown' to me I couldn't live without them anymore. And everything I woúld be willing to drop (like Sinister Calling) is simply better than Deadliness.

Heightened Senses over Master of Subtlety - I got really sick of rogues ALWAYS having the opener on me rendering my 5/5 master of deception useless. I got so fed up with it I planned to get whatever +stealth and +detection I could get my hands on; once I get a worthy cloak (come WOTLK, I only do some casual PvP on my rogue as of now) I intend to get a +stealth enchant as well. I used to have Master of Subtlety and decided the points were simply better off elsewere; it's a temporary bonus which isn't all that good and to me not worth 3 points.

Posting my WOTLK spec might shed some more light on (specifically) the last situation. I intend to start serious PvP at 80 with my pall who'se also a rogue. I would be specced like this, opening first with a cheap shot (or even ambush, depending on the situation), hammering on an improved 5 point expose armor and (though combopointless) attempting to get up a kidney shot. My pall would spec this, opening with an ambush after me and then entering shadowdance and ambushnuke the target. (Note; since I hope to be the one focussed his points from Wrongfully Accused go to Waylay).

And forgive my noobiness, but what's a WWS?

In an AV.

Mass attack coming over the brides, Lolstep to the Lock hiding at the back, WTFpwn him and then die. Only to res and repeat the process.

So much fun...

this horde jumped off a cliff, and i was sprinting right behind him chasing him trying to pwn him.

i SHS'd in the air, vanished, and ambushed him in a fraction of a second killing him (and even if i didnt the fall damage at that point would have finished him)

I get a kick out of some of the unusual things you can do with Shadowstep, like jump to opponents when they think they are in a good hiding spot or hit someone on their flying mount just for the heck of it.

The best ever was the time I prevented both Frostwolf Towers in AV from being capped damn near simultaneously: Killed first would be capper in the east tower - noticed second capper making his way up west tower. I targeted him in the perfect position near the edge of the tower, got a running jump off the top of the east, ShS mid air from the top of the east to the top of the west. Sweet.

I like it when I'm trying to get away from someone in Blades Edge Arena or in WSG and what I do is jump off the ledge and then shadowstep to them when they're jumping off after you - wham your up top and they're stuck down below /wave :)
