New rouge needing some advice.Follow

#1 Aug 08 2008 at 10:24 AM Rating: Default
Hello Im new to playing a rouge and today i had a few questions that i had to get answered so after searching around for a bit i found this place. I have read alot of the stickies here but i do still have some questions. as i level, is combat still the best leveling spec? i have been told by the stickies it is, but i do understand the game changes very rapidly.

Also once i do get to a point in the game where i can start to pvp. Is mace spec i bad choice?

You seem to have missed the [Updated 8/7/08] in the title of my sticky.

It's all very valid and kept up to date. If you can't read it, do us all a favor and don't come back.

Hey cant blame the guy for asking.

Freefire, heres some experience related things regarding mace spec.

Swords will always be better assuming weapons around the same DPS. Assuming combatspec + sword specialization.

For PVP, the main specs are mutilate for some situations, and shadowstep for all situations. HARP used to be very popular, but it got nerfed and became "HAR".
Mutilate is 2 daggers only.
SHS, you dont want to melee in daggers, any weapons work but you get no special bonuses with them. you only use daggers if you want to open with ambush, then you switch to another weapon.
"HAR" does have weapon specs in them, and maces is usually the best way to go, but this spec is extremely cooldown dependent and not a very good pvp choice.

BTW theo, i didnt realize it was getting updated recently, last time i checked it was updated like 6 months ago. nice work keeping it up to date.

Rogue is how the word is spelled.

If you read the stickies as well as you say, then you'd know that Combat Swords is considered the most efficient leveling spec. Behold, your first 10 talent points.

You can start PvP whenever you like. But I'd suggest doing the bulk of Battlegrounds at the x9 levels. Be prepared to get your face melted by twinks until later in the levels. I ran into very few twinks at 59 and none at 69 (when I was grinding marks). Other than world-pvp, the only thing left is arena which is available only at 70. For pvp specs check Theos excellent post, but generally Shadow Step is extremely popular (and awesome) or the far less-popular Mutilate are the ways to go.

Good luck

I'm just going to piggyback on here and ask about dual wield specialization. Does the +50% damage with offhand mean you get 100% damage (50% base + 50% more) or 75% damage (50% more damage)? I checked on a few sites and didn't find anything and also skimmed the stickies here (i'm sure i just missed it and am prepared for Theo's ultra mean response).

Thank you,
