Question about haste for resto druidsFollow

So I switched to Resto about a month ago since I had no luck in Kara getting feral drops, but managed to accumulate quite a bit of resto gear. Anyway, I've been to the Loot Rank links from the EJ Tree forums, and I noticed that many of the top pieces have spell haste. Now I know that haste is great once it allows you to start using 5 LB cycles instead of 4, but when does that happen? I've read various things that say that you have to take into account your latency, but I'm not entirely sure how to work that into your calculation. If it helps, my latency typically ranges from 150 to 250ms depending on the night.

At what point does it start to make sense for me to stack haste over other stats? I'm specifically referring to the neck and cloak out of ZA, as I don't have access to anything beyond the first few bosses in SSC and TK.

Thanks in advance,
Camel

Rolling 5 LBs takes about 170 Spell Haste at 0 latency. The amount of +Healing or Regen that you lose in reaching that number isn't nearly worth what you'd get from rolling a 5th LB stack.

The ZA neck is the 2nd best Resto neck in the game and arguably 1st if you don't care about Stamina, simply because of it's high +Healing in conjunction with Spirit. The ZA cloak isn't as good as either Prince's cloak or the PvP Badge cloak though.

Most of the top ranked items have Spell Haste because our Sunwell gear has Spell Haste on it. Even without the Spell Haste they would still be our best pieces.

Spell Haste is really only valuable in Sunwell, where a good deal of Regrowth casting is necessary to combat the massive raid damage and also because our +Healing begins to hit diminishing returns. For anything else, an equal amount of +Healing would be better than Spell Haste.

Myself personally, would rather hover around 2k heals with a good amount of spell haste, than get something over 2k and no spell haste. I'm a leatherworker so I generally can net 80 spell haste from drums for 30 seconds, and I've noticed that it's a lot easier to fill up a tank but also work on some raid members as well when that comes in.

I just think lowering the global cooldown for any of your instant casts is essentially useful. But, there are talents in wotlk that will lower the gcd of lifebloom by half. It just seems to me that spell haste for a resto druid will kind of become useless in the expansion.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not likely to acquire anywhere near that amount of spell haste, and I'm certainly not willing to gimp my other healing stats to try. I hadn't considered the effect on Regrowth as much, but I can see where a certain amount of haste would come in handy for that. I've had situations, due to latency or lag, where I've had LBs bloom while casting a Regrowth as the 3rd or 4th spell in my cycle, and a little bit of haste may help with that.

Thanks again,
Camel
