That was humbling >_<Follow

Was helping some guildies grind out some rep in Scholo with my druid and noticed a tailor recipe that my warlock didn't have so a bit later that night, with nothing better to do, I hopped on him and rolled into Scholo figuring that him and his trusty void walker would easily slaughter everything in the place, farm the recipe and replenish his supply of 50ish enchanting supplies to boot.

Turns out the instance ended up pharming me - it was terrible! O_o

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kargath&n=Bagobonez

I do realize that he's hardly epic, but up till then I'd thought that he was in darn good shape - he could work any zone he wanted in Outlands till his bags filled completely and if he got killed, it was inevitably a fluke or me just being outright sloppy/stupid.

So after having a long dark tea-time of the soul on this humbling XP, I decided that I obviously need help and input on cleaning him up/upgrading his stuff (the hunter forum was supurb in giving tips on my hunter so here's hoping locks are equally as helpful).

First off, my guild is well equipped enough with raiding locks (and my feral druid is in too high demand) for him to consider raid upgrades past Kara - any gear suggestions are going to have to be instances, Kara, badges or PvP (and as you can see, his arena record sucks so think more BG or unrated arena gear).

I tried affliction spec and while it did have its moments, it didn't seem to be the build for me. Destro spec just says to me "mage with pet" so demo has been my preferred build to date.

I don't have a felgaurd because I always found him to be pretty useless in PvE - he couldn't hold agro or take abuse like my VW could and his damage output wasn't really anything to write home about either from my XPs with him.

None of this is to say that I'm not open to suggestions - just sharing my XPs and mindset ahead of time to give you a better idea of what you're dealing with and to better allow you to tailor advice.

Not a lock expert, but it seems to me that you are in fine shape gear wise. It is more that the instance is not as "lock" friendly as others. Undead areas are more a pally zone, you should do places with humans. From what I have seen, locks cannot beat many melee at one time, my 70 lock friend has trouble with SM, and my 70 hunter with pet can deal with them a lot easier.
#3REDACTED, Posted: Aug 08 2008 at 12:06 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) scholo is a very tough place to solo generally, a hunter cn do it due to FD and stuff when it goes bad, but we just dont have that luxury

You should be able to solo Scholo with no bigger probs, especially if you are aff or demo(to felguard).
Btw,I dont know if you are raiding with that build or what but it's no good.

What you should do in scholo is take your void (if your aff) or felguard (who holds aggro much much better than vw and his dmg output is good, consider it as another dot..) go pack by pack,5-6 mobs SoC (seed of corruption) on 2 of them, wait for explosion, rinse and repeat.

Try this or this build and im sure things will go much smoother.

edit: gem for spell dmg/hit ,never spell crit .. enchant spell dmg/spell hit ,not spell crit.your +dmg is silly and can be much better with right enchants/gems

You might consider a SL/SL variation with points in Imp. VW. Scholomance has a lot of mobs that are immune to magic (including wands) other than Holy, so you'll want your VW out anyway because you'll be meleeing them down and you get a lot of damage mitigation. Use Consume Shadows as often as possible. Keep Torment on Autocast, but only use Suffering in tight spots (also helps keep VW's mana up).

Make sure to bring lots of shards (for healthstones and soulstones) and pots, as well as some mage biscuits if you can. It is entirely possible for a Warlock to solo Scholomance (though Strat may prove to be more difficult because of diseases). As far as gear to accomplish this task, the current S2 gear may be worth a look. And make sure to clear your bags as much as possible; there will likely be trips to vendors to sell stuff, as well as plenty of crap to DE if you're an enchanter.

From my experience solo'ing scholo a felguard is a good idea. Burst down mobs individually with the felguard, he wont need a group aggro ability if you charge with him first. You should kill the mobs with CoA, Corruption (immolate is optional, i would recommend it) and a couple of shadowbolts. I say to target them individaully because things can go horribly wrong if your seeds dont finish the job.

For solo'ing i would recommend putting points into demonic embrace for the extra stamina, you will inevitably be taking hits and sometimes its good to tank a mob yourself if you know your felguard will die quickly.

If you want to get the tailoring recipe (if im right, its down the stairs witht the non-elite skeletons?) solo, your in for a tough ride :). The skeletons which patrol this room are immune to magic so a felguard is non-negotiable. Take your time, you can still pull them with magic. Let your felguard kill them (if your greedy like me get a hit in with your dagger so you can loot them :P) and deal with any elite adds your self.

Some bosses are really brutal in there, the butcher springs to mind. He doesnt care about aggro and hits like a truck :/

GL with your next scolo adventure :)

Some gear suggestions: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=33334;source=live 35 badges
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=32053
Grind some BGs.
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30038;source=live
Grinding mats mostly, but it's the best belt right now except for T6 in Sunwell.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=24262;source=live
It lacks stamina/intellect, but it makes up for that in amazing other stats that are on par with T5.

Fantastic trinket, Occulus you can keep as a grinding trinket but it'll do you a lot less good in Scholo/groups.
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=29132;source=live
If you're Scryers this is a great trinket. If you hit spell cap or are not Scryers use:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=29370;source=live
41 badges. This can replace Xi'Ri if you are Scryers.
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=29172;source=live
Grinding a lot of CE rep for this ring, but it's a fantastic ring that'll last you a long time.
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=34889;source=live
More badges (60) but it's a fanstastic ring as well.

Regem your wand, that's the worst gem I could think of for it. If you can, aim for a 12 spell damage but those aren't easy to come by (300g/15 badges + finding a JC to cut it for you). Also change your glove enchant to +15 spell hit until you go over the cap. Use http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=29191;source=live for your helm, it's the best glyph by far. Regem your boots too, spell penetration is easily the most useless thing in the game. There are better meta gems but that set up is ok. Enchant your chest with either +6 stats or 150 health (personal preference here). Spell crit gems are decent, running all those heroics will probably nab you better gems though. Since you aren't Affliction, I'd think it's better using what you have now for necklace over the Kara trash drop http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=30666;source=live.

There's a good gear list for yeah, but Scholo really shouldn't be too hard just take it one pull at a time. Any level 70 warlock can solo Scholo really.
