Oh duh. I read your retribution guide for speccing and strategies, but apparently did not look at the equipment section very carefully at all. Thanks :)
As an aside, you feel that master hammersmith is better than master swordsmith for PvE ret pallys? I'm close to making my teir 1 blacksmith weapon, and am currently sword.
honestly, i would recommend the maces over the swords for now if you're alliance... keep in mind the expansion is only a few months away. when that comes out alliance will get seal of the martyr (blood) so the stun proc will be much less attractive. swords will likely be better. at the moment though, if you're horde swordssmith is good. if you're alliance, hammersmith is better.

EDIT: and how do you feel about the honored rep pvp-leaning rewards (scaled crusader's etc) as a stopgap gearing list?

i personally don't like using pvp gear for pve content... however, that aside, if any peice of pvp gear has more strength and crit than what you currently have then its an upgrade. the rep pvp gear was added more as a way for us non-pvpers to get intro pvp gear rather than to add pve options i think. i personally would recommend saving the gold and investing it in the mats for the ragesteel set. or just farm the mats if you have mining with your blacksmithing.
oh, if you really like pvp, grab the rep pvp blues and bg your way into merc glad gear... considering you can get it w/o a single heroic/raid it is (sigh) the best intro gear you can get at 70 to start raiding. its good enough i've been crying cause until my guild can start doing ssc/hyjal i may have to stat pvp'ing for merc gear.. i'm just getting as much badge gear as possible for now, trying to put of the dreaded AV....
one last thing, if you go to maxdps.com and put in your stats it'll sort out all kinds of gear by how much it'll add to your dps. i won't say its 100% accurate, but it is pretty good. definitely worth consulting as a tool.
