Tranq Shot - Getting BuffedFollow

So on the beta, I noticed that our Tranq Shot was bugged, reported it, and even made a post on the beta forums about it. (You can view it here)

Not but 3 posts later I get an answer from Blue and he had this to say:

Quote:
Tranq Shot will soon be able to dispel enrage mechanics (i.e. Warrior Enrage, Rogue's Hunger For Blood, etc.). It should also be able to dispel Druids' "Owlkin Frenzy" effect. Also going to lower the cooldown.

In addition, Tranq Shot will also be able to dispel magic effects, and we're removing that from Arcane Shot.

The rest of the post goes completely off topic talking about hunter mechanics in general, pvp, etc. Although I was just curious what your thoughts on this new Tranq Shot is? I'm all for it personally.

Now you have to remember, that with the addition of Chimera Shot & Explosive Shot, they all share the same cooldown as Arcane Shot, so you're using one or the other in a shot rotation as MM or SV specs.

Duct tape on a broken femur.

I'm not quite this pessimistic about it. This buff is actually going to be quite interesting in PvP and add to our utility in instances. If Blizzard goes down the path their buffs are pointing, instances and raids are going to become far more complex than they have been so far. Which just might introduce player skill in a way we so far haven't seen.

North pretty much stole the words from my mouth.

The arcane disspell was duct tape to a broken femur, this is a much better fix/buff.

Now that leaves the question: will it be able to disspell BW/tBW? Smiley: tongue

That's actually the biggest concern hunters have right now regarding this new change. Currently Tranq Shot hasn't received this change just yet (we just need the next patch to come out), so right now it only removes "Enrage" on enemy mobs, won't remove frenzy, or any other type of buffs just yet (at least in Northrend).

However I had a fellow hunter find me in one of the new zones to test it, just to make sure. It didn't work, but that doesn't mean it won't when the new patch comes out for the beta. I'll keep you posted though.

The discussion in the OP is pretty interesting to read, it discusses our complete and utter lack of anything to escape melee with.
Where a lot of other classes are getting more and more tricks to keep close to us, we have and get nothing to help us escape.

The instances that are currently in Northrend have already displayed a different... how shall I put this nicely for the huntards out there... way of thinking?

Example, in one of the dungeons, you come across a boss surrounded by 4 crystals. Upon entering combat, he puts up a magical barrier using these 4 crystals, and surrounds himself with it. Entering the Magic Barrier makes you take damage, and the boss itself takes very little damage from all forms of attacks while in this barrier. As the combat begins, swarms of mobs descend upon you from the nearby stairs. You must beat back the mobs, and look for a special one that has a "Key". After killing this mob and looting the key, you must use it on one of the 4 crystals. You repeat this process until all 4 crystals are deactivated, then you get to fight the boss itself.

Example #2 - Mini Gruul - In one of the instances I came across, we ran across a giant of a boss. He had the Shatter Ability that Gruul does, which will knockback your party, and slowly turn them to stone. Upon shattering this stone, anyone around you will take damage, and vice versa. The more people around you, the more damage they do to you, and the more they do to you. The fight itself is very easy, and quite fun.

Example #3 - Maiden - Much like the cranky chick in Kara, this one is also named Maiden SomethingOrOther, and has the same basic type of abilities the original Maiden did, with a bit of a twist. Instead of Consecration, she now puts out Black Pits through the fighting area. If you stand in the black pit, you take damage. Simple enough right? However she also has the 10 second stun that the original Maiden has as well. If you aren't in a black pit when the stun goes off, you will be stunned for the entire duration, or until your tank dies, and she decides to pick on you instead.

These are just 3 examples, there's a few more, like a dragon you fight where you literally can't stand still for more then 1 second or you get a debuff that stacks and deals constant damage for every second that you stand still. Or the fun chick who tosses you around a room using, dare I say it, shadow tentacles?

This is only the beginning, I can only imagine what they have in store for us when the raiding content comes out.

Update: New Tranq Shot

445 Mana
15 Second Cooldown
Attempts to remove 1 Frenzy, Enrage and Magic effect from a target enemy

Mana cost is obviously a lot higher then expected, but then again you have to remember that it's now removing a lot more then it could before. 15 Seconds from 45 is awesome as well. Has not yet been tested on BM Hunters, will keep you posted though.
