Why do i need REP? Follow

#1 Aug 05 2008 at 12:31 PM Rating: Default
I just dinged 70 on my mage a few days ago and I am planning to just do PvP with very little Raiding, cause its not my favorite thing to do.

I will get the merciless Gladiator gear and then get my Arena Teams together and get that gear.

I just bought my first flying mount, WOO HOO (but broke).

For my epic flyer I want that netherdrake cause its kik-***. so i no i need the exualted rep with them, but for others.....

Why do i need REP from other factions? sorry if it is a newbie question :).

SSO - Resiliance Glyph
Shat 'tar - spell damage glyph
Aldor/Scryer - shoulder inscriptions
Anything that has a craftable pattern/formula that can make you money.
A couple badge items are better than S3 gear.

Just a few off the top of my head. Other than things like that..you don't have to rep grind anything. The topic has come up in posts you've been reading because we advise people to do more than one thing at a time, especially when farming gold.

As for why you need rep for other factions that all depends if you want something from them , if they have nothing you want then it is pointless getting it , but saying that if you needed to buy things like ammo off their vendors then it gets cheaper with more rep , or it allows you to buy off them if your rep is high enough.

It may help if you check out these two .

I find depending on class and what i need depends on which faction i get rep for , i hope this helps

If you do crafting, several of the factions offer high end recipes you can't get without sufficient rep. The Consortium has an egineering recipe that could be profitable...think it is for Elemental Seaforium Charges or some such...the result is used in crafting engineering mounts (maybe the goggles, don't remember exactly), or can open some locked chests. I had to pay a good bit for the ones I needed, since I don't have the consortium rep to get the recipe yet. Think it takes Revered. I assume other professions have similar incentives with various groups....

I think the reason why you need rep has been answered by other posters, for recipes, gear, mounts etc that you otherwise can never get.

In order for you to gain the Netherwing Drake mount you will need to become Exhalted with the netherwings. The only way to do this is to start the Quest chain beginning with "Kindness" in ShadowMoon Valley. Once you start this at some point you will open up daily quests that you can do to grind until you reach Exhalted.

To answer "xxmnemosynexx" about grinding rep, for SSO this is achieved by completing the dailys, the same goes for Netherwings. Rep can also be achieved by completing quests, running Instances, and like you say, handing in Tomes, Rings, Marks etc for Scryer/Aldor rep.

I recommend www.wowwiki.com as it has a huge amount of info on repuation. you should only really grind rep for the items you want, so its best to figure out what the rewards are that you're interested in 1st before you start grinding, as nobody likes to grind, yet its a necessary evil.
